Really great campground. Sites are very spread out, well maintained with a grill / firepit, and a covered picnic table on a concrete slab. Sites are very flat and mostly level. Extremely clean facilities with flush toilets and nice hot showers. There are many other vault toilets found throughout campground. Electric hook up site with water was $14.00 plus $4.00 online booking fee for "reservation sites" (which was all of them). You can SEE other campers due to the low desert vegetation, but otherwise don't hear them. views of the water and mountains are great. Also saw some interesting quail, lizards and a bunny rabbit!

We enjoyed our three night stay here and liked exploring the area and learning about the history of the park. We also did some kayaking before the wind picked up too much.

Beautiful scenery. Not very busy when we visited mid day on a Saturday. Water levels are super low. Was able to walk down to water level using ramp from the historic damsite.

Our visit to Elephant Butte Lake State Park was one of the favorite memory I have of visiting New Mexico earlier this year. The park has breathtaking views of the water and surrounding mountain terrain. The top section of the park is paved with the roads leading down to the water and various camping areas left as compacted sand. The sand roads are maintained well but use caution as the frustration of getting stuck in loose sand will easily ruin an otherwise pleasant visit. The shore of the lake is windy and the sun sparkles charmingly on the waves. The park trails are nice and wide with good footing. They are long enough to walk without becoming overly tired. However, if you are looking for a longer trial the West Lakeshore Trail is ten and a half one-way hike running between the park's paved road and the lake. The park has areas for camping and boating. There is a nice playground for children and smaller shelter areas. The restrooms consist of plumbed, pit, and portable toilets. The park has disposal options for trash and recycling. There is a $5 fee for a day pass to enter the park. I would be quite happy to pay it again or the $40 annual pass if I was a local.

In some areas 2wd is OK. Mainly closer to the top and entrance. I wouldn't chance going down close to the water without 4wd, especially since it has been so windy recently.
IT was nice when I visited at the beginning of September. At night it was cool but still nice and sooo peaceful.
10 dollars to camp with a shade but thats a walk to the water. 7 dollars to camp by the water.
Yes! Bring your fire pit and logs and enjoy a GOOD camp fire! 😎
Not sure either but think its 3 a day
No don't do it just park on hard dirt road and walk to the lake side
Yes. Both 30 and 50 amp full sites. Sites were spacious pool and hot tub are inside and nice. Cable was the only problem as it was down the 3 days we stayed over a weekend. I recommend the place and the area.
