In some areas 2wd is OK. Mainly closer to the top and entrance. I wouldn't chance going down close to the water without 4wd, especially since it has been so windy recently.
There are some places you can get to with no problems, but if you do get stuck there are some very helpful people that will get you out.... don't slow down if you run into a sandy spot...
Good info, thanks guys🏕☺☺☺.... wow. 2 weeks later... 2wd probably not ok ANYWHERE. Horrible time, crowded and noisy..we moved down the road to Caballo Lake and it was gorgeous
Yes 2wd is ok as long as you don't stop while in sandy area.
I've seen motorhomes by the lake in one area.
There are areas that have hard sand, and beautiful views. Take the walk and test time. 😄
The area that is the hardest to drive on is by the main marina, but there is some other areas that you may be able to get to. I'd walk the area first to make sure it's not to soft for 2wd. People are usually nice, but there's a lot of people who like to make money off of people who are stuck by pulling you out.
Sure before you get going figure out where you are gonna camp or fish follow tire tracks and dont slow down if you do get stuck plenty of nice people to help out
