Their DEERS system is always down. When I called to schedule an appointment to enroll my newborn son into DEERS they said they weren’t taking any appointments at this time. CGI and Camp Parks are the closest DEERS office to my home, and Camp Park’s DEERS office has similar issues, so making the trip to Travis AFB or Moffet Field is very inconvenient for me and my family. This issue needs to be resolved.

Not really appropriate to rate a military base, but this is a great one, helping to keep mariners safe and defend our nation.

Coast Guard Island, Alameda is the central location for all west coast and Pacific Ocean operations. It includes the Coast Guard Exchange for tax-free merchandise, a gas pump, one Subway Sandwich shop, a full service galley that offers breakfast and lunch, an indoor gym/basketball court with a weight room, a small post office, several activity fields for sports and of course numerous commands serving the wide variety of roles the Coast Guard performs as part of it's core set of missions.

You can but the maximum discount is for active duty enlisted and officers more than any other category including fully retired military.
