The technician was very efficient, professional, listened to my request that we try to repair the existing hardware rather than replace everything which would be costly. He showed me the hardware problem in detail and explained what we could do for a cost-effective fix. I really appreciate their honesty and that they respect and discuss my input, answer my questions directly and don't "talk down" to the customer. I feel very comfortable having them work on my issues and be in my home. Thank you!

We had a steel tumbler stuck in the sink, it was a smooth experience from scheduling, to the work done by the technician. We also used their service to check Oven repair. Technician suggested to replace Oven panel, when the replacement did not fix the issue, money was refunded. Our experience was great even during that time all technicians are good professionals.

This team is fantastic. Responded to my yelp inquiry within minutes and scheduled a service call for the next morning. The tech arrived on time, was very nice, wore a mask/booties and was quickly able to diagnose the issue. Unfortunately the refrigerator is very old and could not get parts but if anything ever comes up again I will definitely use this company!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Fuse when they installed an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) system in my attic. The purpose is to circulate fresh air from the outside and exhaust stale air while preserving the heating or cooling inside. This involved installing new duct work, grills and suspending the ERV unit by chains from the rafters. HVAC is one of those things you do not want to cut corners on. The quality of the installation can determine the difference between a transformative upgrade and an ineffectual waste of money. In the worst case a bad installation can damage your property. Fuse are a well established, extremely professional company who you know will be around for a long time. I am confident that if I ever encounter a problem down the road they will be there to fix it. Before I describe how the job went, a word about ventilation and why it matters… Ventilation does not get as much attention as AC or heating. ERV systems seem to be more common in new-builds and commercial property. It is less common to install them in older houses like my own. However the world is changing, with scorching summers and smoke from wild fires meaning you can’t just open your window to get some fresh air. More people are also working from home; it turns out these older houses simply were not designed for someone working eight or more hours from a spare bedroom. I discovered this when I noticed myself getting very tired and foggy. My home office was simply too stuffy and uncomfortable to work in for long periods. To get a better understanding of the problem I ordered an air quality meter off Amazon. The recommended levels of carbon dioxide in a commercial office are 400-600 ppm (parts per million.) After 40 minutes my home office would hit 1500ppm! Anything over 1000ppm is considered bad. My meter would even start beeping a warning at me in the middle of video meetings… With the new ventilation system installed, it is now a steady 550ppm. Having fresh air makes an incredible difference. The whole process from planning to installation with Fuse was very smooth. In the run up to the job, the project manager Zack and myself exchanged emails, texts and calls to nail down the requirements. He was very responsive. I got the impression my request was somewhat unusual, but we worked together and came up with a solution. They were very opened minded. The estimate was a bit more than I was expecting, but this was due to all the new duct work that was required. I would later witness just how much work goes into installing ducts and ensuring they are working as intended. This is something most people never see nor appreciate because they are usually installed when the house is built. The estimate turned out to be very reasonable. The installer Slava and his colleague turned up on time at 8am. They were very tidy and respectful of the property, covering furniture with plastic sheets, the floor with protective covers, and even holding a cardboard box up to the ceiling to catch debris when cutting holes for the grills. After the job they meticulously vacuumed all the dust. They worked hard from 8am unit 8.30pm in the evening (I realise some people may not like such late hours but I appreciate their commitment and professionalism to get the job done.) Slava even returned for another couple of others the next day on a Saturday to adjust some ducting and do the final touches. I am super happy with the result - it has transformed the air quality in our house - and I am very excited for the next job. I have asked Fuse to do a complete replacement of our central heating and AC system with mini-splits in each room. I trust they will do fantastic work (they are also a Mitsubishi diamond certified installer.)

what are the benefits of upgrading to a zoned system?

Aubrie Zhang | Aug 21, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Aug 21, 2021

There are many benefits to using a zoned climate system, but the most notable is the ability to save you money while using less energy. These systems allow for homes to keep certain “common” areas cooler or warmer while letting other areas remain at higher levels. This gives your system a break from attempting to climate control your entire home, using less energy, and increasing its efficiency.

What does “grounding” mean?

Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021

When you use an electrical appliance, the current flows from your service panel to the device. A grounded wire gives the unused electrical current a safe way back to the service panel so there’s no danger in the event of a short circuit.

What is a GFCI?

Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021

You may have seen an electrical outlet with a “test” and “reset” button in the middle – this is a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter). It automatically shuts off an electrical circuit when it detects that the current isn’t flowing correctly. It’s also used to reduce the risk of electrical shock from a receptacle located in damp locations and/or counter top areas

What’s the difference between a blown fuse and a blown circuit breaker?

Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021

When the electrical current that passes through a fuse exceeds the limit, it burns a hole in the thin strip of metal. This stops the flow of current and it means you have a blown a fuse. Fuses need to be replaced (not reset). When the electrical current exceeds the limit through a circuit breaker, however, the breaker trip setting opens to stop the flow of current. Breakers are re-settable by flipping the handle on the face of the breaker.

What should I do if an appliance continuously blows a fuse?

Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021

First, make sure there are not too many appliances plugged into one circuit, as this can overload it. If it’s just one appliance, unplug it and either replace it or call us to repair it. You could also try connecting another appliance to the problematic receptacle. If it still shows signs of trouble, have the receptacle and or the circuit checked by our home electrical service experts

Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021
Fuse HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical & Plumbing | Oct 25, 2021

Several years ago, the code was updated and it requires us to install arc fault breakers in the house wherever there are new lines being installed except for where GFCI devices are required (kitchens and bathrooms, etc.). This is a major breakthrough in our industry. This is one of the most intelligent breakers. They monitor the current and discriminate between normal and unwanted arcing conditions. Arc fault breakers are primarily designed to protect against electrical fires caused by arcing.
