Fort Ancient is a great place for families. The museum is interesting for a variety of ages. The hiking paths were a little overgrown, so wear hiking shoes so everyone feels comfortable in the longer grass. The Ohio History Connection pass can be purchased here and it allows visitors free access for a year to over fifty museums and historical sites in Ohio. Make sure to ask for a passport so you can get stamps at each site that you visit.

Awesome piece of Native American history is preserved at this park! Great walking trails and plenty of parking too. The far end of the Fort offers a beautiful view of the valley. The museum was not open when I was there but looked like a nice facility.

Awesome Museum that explains, respectfully, almost a thousand years of native history. There's also wonderful trails through the woods and a nearby spur of the 78-Mile Trail along the Little Miami River. If you're in a hurry, you could do the museum in an hour but you really should give it half a day to see the films and read all the exhibits.

Totally stumbled upon Fort Ancient today while out riding my motorcycle. Paid my $7 and thought I was just gonna ride through real quick and check it out. Not sure how busy this place is normally, but there is almost nobody else out here today. I ended up parking near the North lookout and walked down into the shade on the steps leading downward towards the trail (where I'm typing all this out). What was gonna be a quick trip through turned into me being able to charge my soul. This place is beautiful. ❤

No
There are multiple and they vary in size. They served as a barrier for a very large area where the settlement/village was located.
Yes, it depends on which ones you want to try. Check the website.
Yes has to be on a leash!
I believe if you are a member of the Ohio Historical Society, which has annual fees, you get in free. Otherwise, it costs at the door. But it wasn't terribly expensive.
There are mounds and earth walls all over the area. The term "fort" is loosely applied here. It is not a defense complex, more a community of hunter gathers and intellectuals.
