Called because I think a hernia popped in my stomach, I felt something pop when pressing on my stomach. I asked the nurse for symptoms to look out for and under frustration he told me "I don't know, call your primary." I stated it's incase of a medical emergency and if I need to come in because I'm worried, he said the same thing and hung up on me. Its 8pm, hopefully i dont develop anything overnight, thanks

Not compassionate very unfriendly. I will never forget the way they treated my mother who had had a stroke. When I met her (getting back there was a big problem too here’s why:) she was in a hallway, confused mumbling to herself. Since she was less coherent and aware, she was left alone for a very long time. Once I was there and the nurse finally came, I mentioned that I heard my mothers stomach rumbling and if we could please have a snack or crackers if not good, please. After a bunch of reasons why that wasn’t going to be her priority, she left. I asked (reminded) a few more times and nothing. Once the doctor made his rounds I mentioned it to him and he was very caring and asked someone to look into it. A random nurse butts in and says the nurse is working on it (covering for her coworker). I said nothing and I think about this often. This was all being said while a tray of food that had been leftover from the dinner service was clearly sitting on the counter-the whole time since the first time I asked. More time passed and about three hours later she was given that same tray of cold food which consisted of tough meat (for a stroke patient). If they were not going to help the least they could have done was directed me to a vending machine or the hospital cafeteria. In my state of worry and concern for my dying mother I wasn’t thinking quite completely and I wish they would have been more compassionate. This is one of or the worst memory I have of the whole experience of my mother dying in front of my eyes. I will never forget this experience, for a long time I would cry when I thought of it. This emergency room needs a reboot of their nurses as seen in all these reviews. They are horrible, I would never go there again or take a loved one. Truly zero stars if possible.

I was in the ER May 5th or there about due to a problem I had with a paracentesis procedure two days early. The incision didn't close properly and began leaking. I probably lost at least 2 or 3 liters of fluid before the Doctor stitched me up. Luckily the ER was quiet and I was in a room quicker than it took me to check in. Dr. Mark Cannis was my treating physician and was great stitching me up just like he was when he treated me for the same reason two months earlier. I greatly appreciate being taken care of so well. I have had many trips to the ER in the past year and only one bad visit for a paracentesis procedure that resulted in a turn around visit because I had a poor incision closer that ended up leaking and I had to return to the ER to get it closed. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars ⭐ instead of five stars.

I sat on a gurney in the ER hallway for nearly 4 hours, and the Psychologist that was “too busy” to see me walked past multiple times hitting on me with his eyes as he passed each time (I didn’t know this was the man we were waiting for because he never took his time to introduce himself to my partner or myself). By 9:45pm my partner and I were exhausted and ready for food. We chatted with three different nurses and let them know of our frustrations, yet each offered an excuse rather than an apology. I was instructed by my partner to go change back into my personal clothes. As I stepped out of the bathroom from changing back into my identity-clothing I saw my partner speaking with the Psychologist finally. The Psychologist called me “dude” with a condescending tone and I replied, “Sir, please don’t call me dude. That’s disrespectful.” This Dr. rolled his eyes at both my partner and I in plain site as he turned and pointed to his nursing assistant standing behind. “Sorry we can’t help you, and sorry you think you’ve waited too long to be seen, but take a look at these hallways.” The Doctor pointed, but unfortunately the hallway where we were standing was empty so his point fell flat. The Doc then stated without cares for our concerns, “feel free to leave if you think that’s best for you, but we think you should stay.” I replied, “You didn’t finish the service we came for, so we will not be signing discharge paperwork since the job was not complete. We will be leaving now.” The Doc did seem to mind as he replied, “So be it. We are now off to surgery.” The Doc made a quick turn and walked away on us. I looked at my partner as he respected me for speaking to the Dr. honestly as we walked out of the hospital hand in hand. This medical facility stripped me as I entered just to sit for hours on a gurney with a breezy backless hospital gown. My partner was my rock as he sat by my side the whole time I waited patiently to be seen. Nursing staff constantly made made my partner stand to move the spare chair he had found to sit beside my gurney and keep me company. Two different doctors approached him and asked if he was my father which is also super disrespectful, but we let that go. This world is so shielded to honesty and love. I wish the medical industry offered love rather than leaching money and happy energy from good hearted people that literally just want help.

Testing at Scripps is by appointment only and we are not able to accommodate walk-ins. Please do not go to the emergency departments or urgent care centers if you have only mild symptoms or are only seeking a COVID test. If you do feel you need a COVID test, it is recommended that you first visit the MyScripps online patient portal and answer the COVID-19 symptom checker questions. This will lead to appointment scheduling if indicated.
