I visited this ER twice this week with chest pain so severe, it affected my breathing and heart rate. I understand all ER’s are busy right now, and how tired staff members must be, especially with the lack of resources. But what I will NEVER understand, is how a patient can be made to feel so insignificant and so ignored, and sent home with zero diagnosis or treatment while still in so much pain. I received better care from the EMT’s in the ambulance, and more compassion from other ER patients, than I did from any staff member at this hospital. Due to the chest pain, several ekgs and x-rays of my heart were done, which were all normal. But none of my other symptoms were taken into account. During the first visit, I was told the pain was IN MY HEAD… caused by anxiety. I’ve had panic attacks before, and this was no F’ing panic attack. With the amount of pain I was in, I was convinced I might die due to the ignorance of medical professionals. After returning home, the pain continued to wake me up all night long, so I visited an urgent care center I trusted the next morning. The doctor there claimed I needed a higher level of care, and sent me back to the same ER. Another EKG was performed at the ER, before I was immediately released again, still in pain, with no explanation, diagnosis or treatment. I begged them not to discharge me without any answers, but the nurse rudely told me I had to leave. After days of resting, I am still experiencing this pain. So I started looking for a way to diagnose myself, since no one else would. I learned that all my symptoms align with the diagnosis of esophagitis, which can become more serious if untreated. So I am now treating myself for esophagitis and hoping it works out. Some of the pain has already diminished since taking antacids and steroids. So thank you, Sharp Memorial ER, for treating me so poorly that it gave me the motivation to diagnose and treat myself. I will never be returning to this ER, and it will be the last place I ever recommend to anyone.

The nurses were great. Granted the wait was almost 4 hours long, but that’s kind of expected in the ER. It wasn’t until I saw the doctor that I had a negative thought about the place. Dr. Patel made me feel like he was rushing to get me out and move on to the next. He barely gave me the chance to ask questions and when I finally did get one question out, he didn’t listen to it in order to answer it. I had to wait for the last nurse I saw in order to be able to ask her what I was needing to know. Again, the nurses themselves were nice and I appreciate them. But as a minority, I’ve always felt not heard when I go see a doctor which has lead to my current condition because of many years of misdiagnosis. So as I reluctantly came in to get treatment for COVID-19, I was disappointed to see that I was treated as per usual. Also, understandably so, they have you waiting in the outdoor area, which is fine, but hours later, it gets dark, and the temperature changes. It would’ve been nice for someone to check on me and see if a blanket was needed. And they did not.

Here for almost 2 hrs…3 year old with a head injury. Would give zero stars if available. Rude personnel (not everyone to be fair), but disappointed at this lack of care and I guess that’s why this place, which is supposed to make people feel better and comfortable has a rating of 3.6 stars in the HEALTHCARE industry. Born in the US, but grew up in a 3rd world country, this feels much like their “healthcare system” to be entirely honest. Drs and nurses down there make the tiniest fraction (less than 50K/year) of what they make here. Food for thought.

(Read from the bottom up to get all the info) Last update: My mom went from the ER to the hospital part upstairs. They've taken really great care of her and she's doing really well. I added a few more stars for this reason. I'm glad I was able to make a bad review better and that's mainly due to the hospital, not so much the ER. Although, the ER started to pick up the slack the second time we brought her in. I just suggest they not discharge too early! A second paramedic ride would've been avoided and my mom would've felt better earlier on. I'm just glad the doctors and nurses did right by her and got her on the path to recovery. First Update: So, my mom came here 3 days ago by ambulance (see previous review below.) Well they ended up taking really good care of her, she felt attended to, although I wasn't there. The doctor did surgery and got her blood pressure lowered. It seemed like all will be well and she was discharged on Thursday. Well, we're back here in the ER again, this time no waiting in the waiting room because she is completely incoherent and not making any sense. I don't know what's wrong with her. Could be an infection, renal failure, liver failure....I just dont know. They're doing tests, but no results yet. When she goes for tests, it's bothering me that they forget to hook her up to all the lines she needs. I have to remind them to keep her warm and re-hook the fluids etc. I'll do an update again soon. First review: My elderly mom was brought there by ambulance from her primary care doctors for extreme vomiting and hypertensive stage 3 BP and gallbladder issues. They dumped her back into the waiting room upon arrival for going on 6 hours now, 7 total! If your hospital can't handle the load of people maybe you should put an alert out to paramedics etc that you are overloaded! We're all in this together is complete BULL!

Hi Antoinette, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the wait in the emergency room depends on the volume and severity of injuries or illnesses we are treating, so it varies on a day-to-day basis. I would recommend calling the hospital and they may be able to provide an estimated wait time. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you, Dani

I've been having a really bad headache for the past 3 days and it hasn't gone away. Is that bad? Should I go to the ER and check myself ?
