Will the Long Term Care Trust Act benefit those who are already retired or only those currently working?

Denise Singleton | Aug 21, 2020
Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington | Aug 21, 2020

The Long Term Care Trust Act was passed by the Washington State Legislature in 2019. According to the bill, the Trust Act will provide benefits to individuals who pay into the Trust – in other words, individuals that are working. The Trust Act will not pay benefits to individuals who are currently retired and have not paid into the Trust. The bill established a Trust Commission, which will oversee implementation of the bill. As Washington State works on implementing the Trust Act, this will be a good source of information about how the benefit will be rolled out in the future. If you are experiencing long term care needs or have questions about what long term care services you may be able to access today, we would encourage you to contact our Community Living Connections HelpLine at (509) 960-7281. Our staff can answer questions about benefits, help plan for care, and connect you to local resources that may be able to help.
