Nothing worse than being made to feel worse than you already did before calling , after holding for 30 minutes and being given my workers direct number . I explained to her my situation (I spoke with her a week prior, and did everything I needed too) I was calling for resources for diapers , or to be pointed in the right direction.. my workers response to me was , I understand your struggling but so is everyone else who applies , we’re short staffed and I’m only one person .. I said “do you know of any diaper resources , that’s all I’m asking” her response was short and simple “NO” . She was very rude and matter of fact when I spoke to her before , I hung up feeling so defeated .. after holding for SO long . It’s no one’s fault I’m a single struggling mother , but just advice or push in the right direction would have been so helpful . Why work a job like this with no care or compassion for other women , your community, babies , or humans in general .

None of the workers I've been assigned ever answer the phone! I get they must have a lot of peope on their case loads but still It's just plain slovenly.L. Lewis is the only one who called me back in a timely manner (within approx 20 mins of my having left a message marked 'urgent'....so it was a real bummer when I found out I wasnt on her caseload; she was only saved as a contact in my phone because once upon a time she had been my partner's social worker..... Mine never responded to my urgent messages and so the case to re-file for EBT was dropped and I need to start all over again. Meanwhile we're really struggling...). They had an old number of mine on file from years ago, and since I don't live at my mailing address, I missed an appointment over the phone I was only aware of, after the fact. I tried to get in touch with my worker by the due date; left messages with ny name, phone # and case # and marked them "urgent" but she never responded. You really need to hound these people if you need to contact your worker for any reason. They are so unavailable. I was determined as "ABAWD" (too able-bodied to not work and just keep recieving my usual EBT benefits) a few years back and my EBT was reduced from every month to only 3 months out of the year.... but i was never informed of which 3, so I forgot all about it, misplaced my EBT card amd forgot my PIN. I got several notices in the mail informing me that, since it had gone unused, they were reclaiming the money they had put on my card....which I hadn't even known existed. I filed for a hearing via snail mail. Again, I missed my phone appointment for a similar reason. Only this time they HAD left a few messsages on my current phone number, only on the day of my hearing and I don't answer numbers that show up as private or scam likely, nor am I in the habit of checking my voicemail super often. So I was S.O.L. And at that time I was doing well enough without government assistance, I just gave up. I can't afford to give up, this time. So I'm going to have to physically go to the social services office, which some friends of mine told me was a good idea since there was hardly anyone there so wait times are significantly reduced. Pretty inconvenient but I'm also told I'll be helped sooner.... I can only hope 😓

Horrible Service! They never answer phones, the often don't know what they are telling you. If I'd done that as an employee, I'd be fired. Yeah, it is as bad as that. All of their offices are closed, so there is no way to get assistance. I was on hold for almost two hours last week. I did not get my benefits this month, but their computer tells me it as paid 12 days ago. To say nothing of my emergency benefits for the last two months nor my appeals form.

Getting to this place was awful bus lane only on Broadway (new to me). So in order to make a right turn onto 19TH ave cut the buses off or get a ticket for being in the bus lane (ridiculous). Some how I well adapt. Alameda County Social Service is a clean place and very helpful.

If you're already receiving benefits and your renewal is due in April you will need to complete the renewal in April to see if you're still eligible for benefits.
Yes
As long as you are on SSI you have health insurance and therefore able to see a doctor, some specialist do not take Medical, see that it is within the Network
When you get to the office all of the workers are very helpful into pointing you in the right direction most likely you'll be applying for CalWORKs which is Cash aid and food stamps and Medi-Cal but once you talk to a worker there you'll be in good hands and they'll point you in the right direction good luck. FYI try to apply for emergency food stamps they call it expedited service or whatnot meaning within 3 days and if you get Cash aid if you don't have permanent housing they'll hook you up with homeless assistance and pay for a room for 14 days or what not good luck again any other questions I got you
They no longer close for lunch time, but workers have different lunch schedule. There always clerks available to the public.
You can apply for all aids including cash at this office.
Ask to speak to a client advocate.
You can come yo any office. If you want a card the same day it's best to be there by 3:30 to request one. It's best to bring your ID with you. If your ID has been lost or stolen, though, they can still assist you as long as you know your name, birthrate, and social security #. You can't pick up a card for another person, even if you're their authorized representative.
so much for emegencys
Yes you can, ask them to contact your county and have the card printed here. In that case it may take more than 2 hrs
Medical is based on income, assets are taking into account if you are aged or disable because you fall under a different program
Yes at www.mybenefitscalwin.org if you receive Medi-Cal thru the county and not SSI
YES!
if ur homeless nothin but ur sweet self
You only need to reapply if your case got closed for some reason. You didn't really give any information. Based only on what you did say, no, you don't need to reapply. You will have to file a SAR 7 in 6 months and renew in a year. All changes need to be reported within 10 days.
Go to the office
