They don't let people in or before you or after you there's been times where I waited here in this hospital for 24 hours just to get a room on top of that their patience here who are hungry and they are denying food the patients who have been waiting inside the hospital for hours when security is told you to ask the nurse for food the nearest just tells me that she's not able to go in back and grab food well I've been sitting here for hours

Visited the Emergency Department on a Thursday night for some concerning heart issues. I was fortunate there was no one else there at the time. I walked directly to reception and filled out the half page intake form. A friendly nurse saw me within 2 minutes. She gathered info about my situation. I went directly there from to an EKG and getting blood drawn. A 5-10 minute wait and then an x-ray. Then I waited about 1 hour and 40 minutes to see a doctor. That wait wasn't so great. The doctor like everyone else was friendly and supportive. Another woman gathered my insurance info and get my discharge papers in order. It was probably another 30 minutes to get those papers and see a nurse to remove an IV insert from my arm. Obviously, I wish things could have moved faster, but that's to be expected. Additionally, a little bit more communication about the process and how long things would take would be appreciated. Still they were friendly, the process was smooth and effective, if slow, and I'd go back there in the future.

I had to visit Summit ER today. Aside from the Covid policy that makes us all struggle with safety, I couldn't ask for more. Granted, when I entered the facility there were no patients waiting. I was in triage in less than 1 minute and had an EKG just a few minutes later. Blood was drawn with a painless poke and I was in a bed soon after. My doctor came with results not long after and I was even given a CT to complete my diagnosis. My nurse was kind and efficient. My visit turned out to be a false alarm but I was well cared for. The folks that staff our hospitals have had a very tough two years and they deserve our respect!

Tldr: they're obviously working hard and don't necessarily have enough resources during their busiest times, but the team I saw was kind and helpful. For less serious problems try to time your visit in the morning. I went here twice for the same problem. First time (weekday afternoon) they were slammed and could not free up a bed for more than two hours and I ended up going home "against medical advice" because the wait was entirely more miserable than trying to wait out the problem at home. The staff was kind and helpful, though obviously too busy to help lower-priority problems like mine (severe migraine). Before I left the nurse gave me a tip that mornings and late at night (after 11 pm) were much less likely times to be crowded. Second time I went there (same problem) I went around 6 am and they had me in a bed in less than half an hour, where they kindly and competently provided treatment for the problem and I was in and out in three hours.
