We enjoyed the whole journey! If you want to disconnect from life routine this is the place for you and your family. The trail is among trees and surrounded by birds singing.
A Bizzles (abizzles)
Beautiful trail. Great features, waterfall, stream and creek crossings. Muddy in a few areas. Trail markers weren’t there on parts of the trail so we got turned around a few times. We went 3.5 miles on the blue trail and back. Nice greenery and creek sounds. Not crowded. Overall, loved it.

This trail, quietly hidden off of Colesville road next to Trader Joe's is one of the prettiest hikes in the region. Short and straineous for the uninitiated, make sure to take care of some slippier rocks. President Theodore Roosevelt came here in 1901 and wrote to his son, Ted, saying, “Mother and I had a most lovely ride…way up beyond Sligo Creek to what is called North-west Branch, at Burnt Mills, where there is a beautiful gorge, deep and narrow, with great boulders and even cliffs. Excepting Great Falls, it is the most beautiful place around here. Mother scrambled among the cliffs in her riding habit, very pretty and most interesting.”

Nice place for a quick hike. The trail on the opposite side of the parking lot was nice. The only reason we turned back was because it started pouring. I'll be back another day.
