I went on June 17th 2022 to get my new SS card and the officers was nice and kind. Waiting time was only 10 mins and i get it done in less than 20 mins. So fast and efficient. Well done SSA office. Keep up the good work!

They said to call them back if I don’t receive my document. But their phone service is NEVER functional during their business hours. Painful experience.

This is in fact the closest Social Security field office to where I live . I can reach it on foot in just under ten minutes . In addition , it sits at the nexus of the mass transit system accessible in theory to the entire metro area. However these advantages are totally cancelled out by a combination of rigid and scientifically discredited covid-19 restrictions as well as a dysfunctional phone system that makes it virtually impossible to contact the office by phone. Instead , poor, elderly, and often not computer literate retirees are shunted over to a website where they can " create " their own service account. The lack of phone accessibility is not limited to the Causeway street office . NONE of the Boston area field offices has fully functional phone service . I was not able to contact the Waltham, Freeport street Dorchester , nor the Roxbury office until today . Miraculously I got a Social Security employee employee in Roxbury . When I told her where I lived , I was advised to call the Causeway street office as my particular business with the SSA would require an in person appointment. I explained to her that I had just spent two and one half hours on hold on the national Social security " help" line before my call was dropped , and that I had no intention of calling Causeway street for the thousandth time . This lovely woman, the only minimally helpful person to person contact I was able to obtain after almost a week of using all my waking hours to the exclusion of everything else in my quest to get help from this agency ( in what should have been a very simple and straightforward matter ) put me on hold as she E MAILED Causeway street to request an appointment for me .

1) Download this form https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf 2) Read the tedious instructions. 3) Gatther the two form of identification (this is the hard part). 4) Fill out the last page in the form. 5) Go to the office. It is not uncommon to have to repeat this process more than once, so proceed carefully. Don't take it out on the staff when you have to try again.
My husband needs a replacement for a social security card
Need an appointment for a letter
DID PHONE AND STILL WAITING FOR APPOINTMENT DATE AND TIME--- NEARLY 3 WEEKS AGO---HELP------
Highly recommend appointments or the wait could be hours
Yup
No ,most cases you don't need appointment
Don't know. You need to call or better off visit SS office and ask face to face your question
My appointment was in noon and there was hardly any line. I waited for 5-10 minutes and got the documents process took another 10 minutes.
Yes, there is!
Usually, Social security card takes 2 to 3 weeks.
No
Call to make appointment They will tell you what to do

You need to send a formal request letter to SSA office enclosed with all the required documents. Mention your contact details in the letter and they will get back to you with an scheduled appointment.
You can call your local SS office and talk to them about what you have had happening. I do know that there is currently a scam happening where they are calling people, myself included, saying that I have filed false SS claims and that it is going to cause my benefits to stop or a warrant for my arrest has been put out for me. SS said that they will not usually contact you by phone but via mail. So if you know that SS has your current mailing address then you have nothing to worry about. I hope that helps you! 😊

I'd call Social Security to be sure I got the correct answer. You don't want to get an answer from someone on here that might not be giving you the exact right answer. I've heard $60 but I don't know if that's per week or per month I'm not sure I don't want to be quoted on that. The best bet is calling them and you know for sure you're getting the right answer as I said before. Good luck! :-)
Monday to Friday
I Googled it and it says that it takes several months. Since I didn't know the answer myself. Good luck!
Any document that has the name you have on your social.
Downtown Crossing has an MBTA office where you can apply for and receive a TAP (disability) MBTA card.
