I am not one to generally leave reviews even when I do not enjoy a meal but the experience I had eating at Red Sky was offensive. This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant feeling cheated out of my money. Myself and my fiancé ordered the lobster risotto and the ribeye; both were dishes that they charge $49 for. The food took an hour and a half to arrive at our table and when it did finally arrive the ribeye was both burned and cold. It was an interesting culinary decision to burn the steak and then let it sit for 45 minutes. The lobster risotto tasted fine but nowhere near the level of quality that one should expect from a $49 dish. Additionally the lobster risotto was plated in such a way that it made the dish seem unappetizing. My fiancée literally said to me "they are charging $50 for this?" when it arrived. Overall the food tasted like someone was guessing at the recipes. We would have sincerely enjoyed the food more going to one of the many local lobster shacks. The most frustrating part of all is that the restaurant itself is cute. The outdoor dining area is set up with private tables in the back and it comes of as quaint. The menu when read seems appetizing. However, the food and the service were awful. The entire experience felt like 50% of a good restaurant. However, one should not have to pay $150+ for 50% of a good restaurant.

Probably the best meal we've had on MDI, Red Sky was excellent. Everything was perfectly prepared. My wife thought her risotto was delicious, my duck breast was excellent (and came out rare as requested), and my mother-in-law enjoyed the tagliatelle. The appetizers were good and the deserts were great. This is what happens when a restaurant takes pride in what they do. Great job and thanks!

Different strokes for different folks, some may find Red Sky to be the place they've been dying to go to. Pros: Classic restaurant menu Knowledgeable staff Very clean, ambiance was pretty tranquil Cons: Lack of workers in bar harbor has one person doing the job of 3 and so you may not get that extra service you expect when going out. Food was 'good' but not a must have Wife was content but not as excited as I'd hoped when we left.

This was an amazing dinner. My husband had the lobster risotto. He said it's the best well balanced meal he's ever had. The lobster and risotto were excellent, the asparagus cooked perfectly. I dug into my plate before my photo (sorry) it looked so delicious. The squares were scalloped potatoes, I loved the presentation. Green beans were perfectly al Dante. The pork ribs were perfectly cooked. The meat easily came off the bones. The wait staff was kind and attentive. We topped the night off with a creme brulee. A wonderful birthday dinner.

We aren’t sure yet. Our website will be updated if we are able to be open for NYE.
We built a large outdoor seating area behind the restaurant and indoors the tables are at least 6 feet apart. Employees wear masks and we require customers to wear masks when they are not seated at their table. Windows are open. Pens and check trays are sanitized after every use, as are the menus. No more than 8 people to a table. Since Maine weather doesn’t accommodate outdoor dining and open Windows we are currently closed. Look forward to opening in the Soring.
