I switched to Scarborough Animal Hospital after my previous vet retired. At my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable the care was and how services were discussed honestly and without trying to make a sale. When my elderly dog recently had to be put down, Dr. Ford and his staff were extremely compassionate and gentle. I would definitely recommend them to care for your pets.

I highly recommend Scarborough Animal Hospital to our friends/family. They are so professional, reasonable, kind, and honest. They bundle visits and immunizations when possible so as to avoid many visit charges. They are reasonably cautious but not alarmists. We are so glad we switched!

I have been a client of the Scarborough Animal Hospital for years. Dr. Gagner is wonderful and has always been so amazing and professional. She knows how anxious I am and I have never left her office without having my many questions answered and without feeling confident with her treatment options and diagnosis. She also is so sweet with my cats!

I brought my 11 month old Holland lop to get spayed last week. Of note, I recently have had a foster bun neutered at another vet in the Scarborough area which I won’t disclose the name. The two experiences where night and day. I felt very comfortable bringing my Annabelle in for this surgery. They offered a service for fluids, anti emetic, and a packet full of rabbit information which I was pleased to pay for ! Dr. Ford called me promptly to chat with me post op.. he gave me details of her surgery talked about her exam and left time to listen to my questions. He didn’t rush me and made me feel like he sincerely cared. They use an extended release pain med so I don’t have to give her medicine via syringe ( amazing ), she came home perky and interested in snacks, she is recovering well! In brief the experience I had at another vet in the Scarborough area was abrasive, I had to syringe feed the bun for 8 hours, I had to give him pain meds via syringe, the vet didn’t call me, he was lethargic and very slow to perk up, I felt rushed and very unsettled.. In conclusion, I would recommend Dr. Ford and his team to anyone! I had a 10/10 great experience !

Hi there, I have a bearded dragon that is a little over a year. I think she hurt her shoulder? She's been acting very lazy for over a month but we read up an thought maybe she was going through a phase. Thinks it's dislocated or broken?

Not necessarily, but it should receive emergency care ASAP to stabilize the leg and provide pain relief. We’d recommend contacting PetMedic (813-4777), Portland Veterinary Emergency (878-3121), or Maine Veterinary Medical Center (885-1290) as we are closed until Monday at 8 am.
