Overall, the food was very tasty. I liked the pasta, and the bread was good too. But it seems like they're cutting corners and "making up for it" with flavorful sauces. Our waitress started our experience off a little awkwardly. I guess we came right in between lunch and dinner, so after letting us look over the lunch menus for a few minutes, she came over and swapped them out for dinner menus- which appears to be a $7 price increase JUST for an added side salad with the entree... The $7 salad seemed cheaply/lazily prepared: it was a plate of lettuce with shredded carrot, 2 small slices of onion, 1 hunk of Cucumber, and a slice of tomato (and one of our plates didn't even have the tomato). Italian dressing was good. Bread was good. My meal (Pasta Azzurri) came out hot, and seemed freshly prepared. The sauce was creamy and delicious, I thought there was a very appropriate amount of protein and vegetables in my dish. My partner's meal (Chicken Giuseppe) came out lukewarm. The sauce on this one was a lot lighter, and the flavor composition was not as good as the Azzurri. Additionally, the "grilled" chicken was definitely not grilled; probably microwaved or boiled, as it was white as a sheet with no sear marks in sight. We also were left wanting more water, like it wasn't refilled enough. Which really isn't the biggest deal, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. It's really tasty Americanized Italian food, but this experience kinda left a sour taste in my mouth (metaphorically).

Awesome authentic Italian. Portions are excellent and pricing is not bad at all! Friendly staff will definitely bring us back from Virginia Beach to enjoy again.

If you want Southern Italian cooking, THIS is the place. Easily the best Italian restaurant in Newport News. Between this place and Reginello's you can get good Italian cooking in most of Hampton Roads. My only complaint was the pasta sauce was too sweet for my liking, but that is a taste preference and not a reflection on the restaurant itself. The meat sauce was the perfect consistency and the meat was perfectly cooked. I also hadn't had a meatball that good in a while. Definitely will be a repeat customer.

Service was fantastic, and Sinatra was playing, you have to love that. The Bruschetta Toscana was amazing, I'll probably order that every time I visit from now on. I tried a slice of the pizza I ordered to go when I got home, and it's the perfect chew on the crust! Looking forward to going back to try everything else now.
