Friendship.shelter started.out as a Great experience. Mike is so helpful and just a.easure.to be around. Once he left the program we were in our experience went from great to not good. We had to many people come and go. We were put in rapid rehousing when we should have been in housing vouchers or section 8. Being homeless for several years and my husband not working because of Covid we had no income and a low credit score it is very difficult to have someone take a chance. I had 3 or 4 different people helping me apply for social security disability which I am grateful.for the help . I still am not approved. The big punch in the stomach was being kicked out of our hotel a week before Thanksgiving. Back to being homeless. Then to find.out Friendship shelter is paying for several immigrants hotel rooms. And still paying for alot of others rooms. I cannot say anything good about MIA. I called her to ask if I has recieved any mail from social security and was told by her NO. found out last week social security did.mail me a notification letter to their office in January. Our experience was not great, too many inexperienced employees. A friend.of mine is.still waiting (been a year) for a.call back to get a hotel.voucher or any help from them.

I worked at the Friendship Shelter part-time for just over nine years. It was my pleasure to be a part of this outstanding facility. Those with whom I worked were of the highest caliber. The systems employed are designed to assist men and women to get back up on their feet as quickly and effectively as is possible. You could not ask for a better place to start fresh.

A dear friend of mine was 'accepted' into the friendship shelter after staying over a week in a place in Tustin called 'Treehouse Orange County Crisis Residential Program'. Cfinancing is provided by 'Telecare' for some of their special needs patients who, I would have to say are... 'alone' in this world but not at all alone. That would be my friend (nameless). I visited her on the night before she was to take a taxi (County financed via Telecare) to Friendship Shelter. They would not allow her to be transported any other way. They act like she is a violent prisoner. Note: she walked into this place because she had nowhere to go. I did not know she had gone there til days after she went. She did not want to go home. I'm not sure why. About 3 days after I last saw her, her father calls me and claims that she was not there at all. She had left right away. He also told me that she was at his house (also her home) the night before this phone call and he called the police and had her reported as 5150. That... to me, is not something a caring father should do. My belief... she was kidnapped.

Yes, give them a call if you have any other questions.
Just call Wednesday's at 9am or after. And then they'll either send you forms to fill out,ask that you come down and they'll talk to you,or they'll just simply ask you whatever need be and you'll be next on the list. (List can be very long though) Then you'll call every Wednesday at 9am, not a min before, and ask if there's an available bed.
