Excellent atmosphere for the start to a Friday night. Good drinks and good service. Super friendly chef. Down side tonight, the Scallops.. they were extremely fishy tasting, to the point that the people at my table who all ordered them, couldn’t eat them. Even after having the chef throw them back on the grill for 5 more minutes.. still tried to eat one (the 1/2 one on my plate), and still no good. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin my night with my stomach.

My family and I had a reservation for 8 on Sunday night at 8, for the grill. We have been to Fuji’s in the past with no complaints. This time … not so good. We arrived to be told by the man at the desk he had been Instructed by the owner to cancel our reservation. I called a day in advance. Why was our reservation cancelled?? And why were we not notified?? Our party ended up being accommodated and told we would be comped appetizers for our inconvenience (we waited about 20 minutes to be seated and then waited another hour to have our food prepared), but were not comped anything, which - whatever. Our server was seriously lacking as well. It was late, but once we ordered our food and drinks, she did not check back with us until she brought the bill. An automatic 20% gratuity was added to our checks. I don’t mind paying 20% or more if I receive excellent service, but service was mediocre at best. On a positive note, our chef at the grill was excellent. He was very outgoing and friendly and prepared our food to perfection. I think customer service is key in the restaurant business. If I knew I would be treated the same - basically unwelcome - in the future, I would not return, especially when we put out close to $400.

Messy

The sunny side roll (minus the cream cheese) was really good. The spicy sauce is fantastic, make sure you get a side of it to put on everything! I would skip the salt and pepper calamari, we ordered it and it was not edible, it was extremely dry and the actual calamari was so hard I couldn't chew through it, they did the right thing and removed it off the bill though. So I only took 1 star off for it.
