Got stuck at Colonial Grand (CG) during covid, and I must say that living at CG was the WORST experience of my life. In my opinion, the place is a dump. The grey buildings look depressing. The hall areas are disgusting. The front office people are nasty; the maintenance work is usually shabby—although the workers are pretty nice. I would talk to neighbors to see if my assessment was too harsh, but apparently not. The buildings are old and constantly need repairs. I recall that we had 4 leaks in our ceiling, one of which ran down our wall like a waterfall, spilled onto the carpet, and went into the apartment below us. I asked for a tarp to no avail. I had to get clothing in my closet dry cleaned, at my expense, after one of the leaks. Appliances were cheap and faulty. The washing machine ruined some of my clothing. We had 2 bathrooms, but one of the toilets was constantly breaking. My husband asked for a new toilet, but they refused. We got tired of complaining and figured we’d just live without it working properly. Our stove caught fire and we had 3, yes, 3 other stoves put in during our stay (approx 3 years). The trash removal system is gross. I could go on and on and on. Lastly, I just want to say that our dishwasher broke after we gave our 2 month notice of moving. The administration never bothered to fix the appliance for us. I knew that we were there temporarily, so I endured the horrible experience. I didn’t realize how depressing the place was for me, until I moved.

I would give this a 1 star review if I could. This is honestly the worst place to live. Me and my husband moved here 2 years ago and are dreading this place inside out. So many things are broken to the point where nothing works, electrical circuts are broken, there is not enough storage. We have a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment and it is so tiny and we are paying over 3000 dollars for it. There is nothing to do around the community, the "resort styled pool" is dirty and not heated. DO NOT MOVE HERE if you want somewhere updated and nice. The kitchen is so small and not even updated, there is nowhere to store our non-perishable foods. We have resorted to using cabinet space that there is already is not enough of. I wish everyone the best who moves in.

I recently transferred my lease from another MAA property and am super impressed with the location/things to walk to close by. My HVAC system needed to be replaced, Karen, Gigi and Paige all stepped up to get this done. My other unit was outdated but they worked to get the new one in ASAP.

The property is beautiful, as well as the pool and clubhouse area. And the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I'm giving two stars though because these apartments need a serious update on the inside, or ours does at least. We've had nothing but one issue after another with leaks, A/C issues, plumbing, etc. I've lost count of all of the maintenance requests that I've had to submit, and I can't access my maintenance request history on the online portal. And don't assume that the apartment that you rent is going go have a lanai, because we were under the assumption that ours did only to find out there wasn't upon moving in and that turned out to be a huge disappointment for my family. Maybe some of these maintenance issues could be resolved if the company that owned these apartments would be more proactive and not wait for issues to arise on their own, especially considering the amount for rent is ridiculously high and continuing to rise.
