I walk in and said I need safety chains for a 6,500 lbs GVWR trailer. He hands me some chains and I ask what they’re rated for. He says “1,900 lbs. they go by tongue weight. These are adequate.” Ummm no they aren’t! It doesn’t go by tongue weight! We argue for a second. I end up walking out. So you’re telling me that my 6,500 lbs GVWR trailer with 700 lbs tongue weight, that I only need 700 lbs safety chains? That’s ludicrous. I lost all confidence in the store and shopping here. I’ll buy online rather than trying to give this local business my business. It’s simple, a safety chain needs to be rated for the trailer it’s supporting.
