I've had an opportunity to work with several planners over the years in the department here. I've always found them to be first off pretty darn prompt about responding and helpful. From pointing me in the right direction for answers to questions, to explaining the process of any given thing in depth to actually processing applications! They're professional, nice and efficient for a planning department. The system of going in to get answers in person is nice since it helps sort and get the appropriate person (as much as possible) from the gate to resolve why you're there. I deal with a fair amount of planning and building depts throughout the bay in my work and SMC is one which I look forward to dealing with (unlike say Berkeley or Belmont, both of which are abhorrent).

Bay Area Transparency allowed me to experience this facility and you all are out of line and provide TERRIBLE service to the public. Just horrible!

Renee Ananda (Planner III) She has been very helpful & courteous. She sent me the needed documents within 24 hours of my request (in fact it was 4 hours).
