The hotel is old but has been updated. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The walls are thin but the room heat/air has the option to keep the fan on so that can help cover the noise from the next room. I would not recommend staying here if you are traveling with a team or large group. There is only one washer and dryer that does not always accept quarters, there is an app but you have to load it with $25 to get started. The pool is in the middle of the hotel, they close the lobby at 10pm which is nice for those who have rooms by the pool but horrible if you are trying to spend time with a large group that includes kids. The bar stays open but kids are not allowed in there either. I would never stay here again with a team.

On March 12th we booked a room for May13/14 for a total cost of $855.53 to travel with our son & daughter-in-law to visit our granddaughter. Due to a date error we attempted to change the date at the same hotel. However, in working with Hilton Corporation and Lawrence Hilton neither were willing to help us make the change and refused to refund our money. Considering their hotel had well over a month to rebook what we were told was a busy weekend it would seem reasonable that they would be able to rebook these rooms as well as secure an additional booking for the dates we are attempting to change. We have stayed at many Hilton Hotels and have never experience such poor treatment and lack of cooperation. Use caution when booking at Double Tree by Hilton, Lawrence, KS.

Reading some of these other reviews, I am honestly a little stunned. I loved my experience at the Double Tree. We picked a room with an interior view, which was a window facing into a maintenance hallway. Unusual, but was a quirky touch. The room, bathroom, and shower all looked and smelled clean, and the water pressure was great. I loved the interior style (70s style with a modern touch). The bed was comfortable too. Breakfast at the restsurant downstairs was also fantastic. I would 100% stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year anniversary. Being 30-40 minutes away from KC, we thought it was a steal for a 3/4 star hotel. We were given a warm cookie upon arriving and were easily impressed by the interior (which seemed like a great start). The staff was kind as well. But the flaws of this place started to become glaring. The walls are thin. And I mean thin. We escaped our town for peace and quiet, but were met with a busy hotel and screaming kids running up and down the hallway (which I don’t put at fault of the hotel, but do put at fault the design). The pool was in the middle of the lobby, which meant no one in the hotel would be sleeping until after 10- which would have been fine if we didn’t travel all day. We tried to ask for another room, but the only one available was the same room on the other side. The comforters are hot and the bed is uncomfortable, there is no natural light, the wall socket in the bathroom was coming out of the wall, the lighted portable mirror didn’t work, and the a/c barely kicked on. While I realize these are first world complaints, they are valid with a $120/night price tag (excluding extra fees… more like $160/night). I’m disappointed to say the least. I will never stay at a Double Tree/Hilton because of this experience again. A 5 year anniversary is supposed to be special and I guess our expectations were just a bit too high for this place.
