Neat design for a hotel. Feels like a castle. The beds are meh. Rooms are spacious, but feel a bit sparse. No artwork means they feel cold, especially when everything is tied floors. The public restrooms have individual floor to ceiling stalls, but they are super tight, not very wide. The turkey melt at the bird dog was incredible. Unexpectedly so.

I stayed at The Oread since I was visting KU! Very quick walk to campus, gorgeous views. Everything was cleaned. People at the front desk are great and overall. I recommend staying here

There were bugs in our room and on our sheets. We asked to move and the room they moved us to had stains on the sheets. They refused to comp us for any of the inconveniences and didn't correct the price for the smaller room till we asked them. There was signs in the gym to disinfect the equipment, but no disinfectant wipes. The lobby said the signs were out of date and they no longer provide disinfectant wipes for the gym, which isn't a huge loss, cause the gym was a huge letdown. There's like two treadmills, a bike, and a few dumbbells. The locals tell me new management took over a couple of years ago and the place has gone downhill. So much potential, but ultimately just disappointment.

Overall it was clean and comfortable but there were a number of quirky things. Having to fill out a sheet for $2 self-serve coffee in the morning seemed unnecessary. A night club below the hotel made accessing the garage tricky on the weekend. Sound travelled but was somewhat muted (white noise machines were included in the rooms). The TV setup was strange: you had to point the remote in two separate places to get things to work (provided instructions were confusing). I liked the flooring in the rooms: much prefer a good laminate over carpet, though I was surprised to see this.
