Great store! See my review on the Plato's Closet location in Manchester and why this store is far superior.

I always have a blast here. so many of these reviews are complaining about how they didn’t accept “their” clothes! this place is SO TRENDY ALL the time….. they carry sizes xs-xl in woman's and I think I seen a few random items that were xxl but anyways they don’t accept your clothes because sorry it’s just not what’s “in” at the moment u brought them in. Even if your clothes have tags on them and never been worn… why don’t u want it? I can buy 5 shirts at old navy and give it to them with the tags and they won’t accept it… because old navy isn’t really “in” they might accept 1 piece if it’s to die for or if it’s a similar trending looking item but that’s how they operate… they only accept cool trendy clothes not clothes u don’t want anymore…. They will give u every piece back if they feel like they just aren’t cute. Also they always have GREAT MUSIC PLAYING! I mean the music vibe is fantastic. It does get a little Awkward feeling in there sometimes because the girls that work there look like they hate their lives. Never had a specific attitude towards me but they r like miserable robots and always very very young I never seen someone older then 18-20 ish. The girls never seem to talk to each other or laugh etc. but other then that it’s pretty nice and tjmaxx is right next door so if u didn’t like it you can step out the door and enter tjmaxx next door. Advice to owner is you’re basically doing great running this place keeping it cute and up to date; nice fitting rooms and super organized but could use more upbeat girls who socialize and seem more alive. It will make the vibe a lot more fun and relaxed which will make people shop more and not feel awkward while shopping because of how quite and not… fun the girls are. But I will be back over and over and over!

This place is terrible. Minus the fact I love to shop there... The buy/sell process is a waste of time. Kayla, the girl who processed the clothes I brought in has a poor attitude. Her customer service skills are non existent. Numerous times I have brought in brand new clothing, some still with tags on them, and they were rejected for "obvious wear" or for "out dated age." How could that be when they were never worn and were purchased recently? Also... My most recent attempt at selling my clothes... I brought in 2 large trash bags entirely full of excellent quality clothes. And although I appreciate them processing my things quickly... I find it strange that they were finished in less than 10 minutes. There is no way they went through and inspected all my items that quickly. I could bet that they didn't even go through it all out of lazyness. They also cannot use the excuse that they were busy because the entire store was completely empty at the time. I waited out front in the parking lot while my husband was shopping at another store in the lot. I am really disappointed. I am not someone who tends to write poor reviews. In fact, my husband and I frequently will call a place in which we had a good experience and ask for the manager to tell them how pleased we were. For example, if we order take out and the service was great and the food was too, we will call and tell them. We feel that too many people will call and complain and not enough people will call and praise them. But this time, I feel the negative review was deserved. I've never had a good experience selling items at Plato's closet in Portsmouth/Newington. I've tried at least 5-7 times despite my experience each time. Needless to say, I will be taking my business else where, which is quite unfortunate. Suggestion to management... It might be time for a staff meeting. Maybe review the type of items you accept, possibly explain taking the time to process ALL the items, and definitely review customer service skills.

The previous reviews tell the complete truth. I recently brought in a bag of clothes that have all been purchased within a year (Abercrombie and Fitch, Levi's, American Eagle, Ect) and a good amount new with tags and never worn. I was told I would get a text when they were done sorting threw my items and that it would be a while since there was only 2 girls working. That was totally fine and went on with my day. I never got a text so I assumed I would just pick up what they didn't take the following day. No surprise to me, that was completely false. Not only did I not get a text, I got a phone call at 8:30 PM. 8:30?! I can't just up and leave at 8:30 pm because they did not send a text or notification at a DECENT TIME. I went in the next morning to not only have the girl shove the bag back to me but tell me they couldn't take anything because I "didn't pick up the clothes the day of." Fine whatever I was not about to argue with a girl who clearly had better things to do than be at work. I walked to my car and noticed a good amount of items missing from the bag. Noticeably all the items with tags still on them. I went back inside and the girl goes oh sorry you have a $30 store credit and haven't "donated your items yet since you didn't pick up the day of." DONATE ? Yeah right. I browsed the store a bit but the strong smell of air freshener (if you want to call it that) made me sick to my stomach. The racks are filled with poor quality clothing items, outdated items, and even items from places like Walmart and old navy. Nothing trendy. The shoe section resembled my 2016 college closet. Donate your clothes to girls who are less fortunate and completely skip this scam of a store/company.

Questions & Answers

Heard awesome things about this place and tried to check it out but the two girls hiding behind the counter on their phones locked the doors 20 minutes before the store closes so they can snapchat or whatever.. Is this normal??

We actually do take and sell plus sizes. Our inventory, however, depends on what our customers sell us. We welcome clothing of all adult sizes from 00 to Plus

You don't need appt. But sometimes they have a buying limit. When they reach that, have to wait till next day. The earlier you get there the better.
