Great place to take your MTB and explore around. Mostly gravel ( main trail ) and easy ride but there are several trails off the main one that are challenging because they are grassy, muddy and specially in the north side of the preserve is mostly sandyβ¦π₯΅π₯΅. This preserve is huge and it would take a few rides to do it all. A MTB definitely but a hybrid will work too if you ride only on the main road. Lots of deer, turkeys, oaks, pine trees etc and by looking at the prints on the sandβ¦..coyotes. Iβm not an expert but i also saw some prints that looks that could be catβs printsβ¦maybe panthers π? π€

I swore I would never do a hike through swamp water but today I had no choice. We were almost there, No turning back now. Yes I lived to tell about it, the trails are flooded. π€£

Just discovered this diamond of a public resource. I camped at the Cumpressco campsite for 2 nights (essentially a dry camp site- port a potty and non potable water.) Withlacoochee River county park is .5 miles away if you need full hookup services. Only 3 of the 10 or so sites were occupied while I was there. Fellow campers were friendly and quiet. Owls, coyotes, and sandhill cranes put on quite a concert at night. I was able to hike about 11 miles of the Florida Trail and about 25 miles of gravel roads. I can't wait to get back out there and explore more. I highly recommend this preserve, but hope you will keep the secret.

Very quiet, clean as an equestrian campground can be. Many open areas suited to temp corrals. Many options for hikers, small boat launch just before the entry, full service county river park less than 1/2 mile away. Dry camping, vault toilet, shady sites with fire rings, picnic tables and some have shelters. Best of all, an email is the only cost. SWFMD land. Def will visit again, since its literally 15 min from my house.

Yes, dogs are permitted as long as leash laws are followed!
Yes, have seen them there. Gravel paths and trails.
Marked trails and not during hunting season usually. We have seen some people up there during.
Not hookups. Just spigots of non-potable water for horses.
During season
In Green Swamp West RVers can park at the Ashley and Cumpressco campgrounds outside of hunt dates. Need a camping permit from SWFWMD.
