Not the best shelter in San Diego County. The entire staff is not professional. In front of me, they even kicked out a woman with a newborn baby.because she couldn't do the job "chor". Think well before going to this shelter.

WHY WAS MY POST DELETED???!!! Original post: WAS on 7/16/2019 **I wish to remain anonymous due to fear of being retaliated against. It saddens me to read that I am not the only volunteer that has had a bad experience while at Operation Hope Vista. I as well experienced uncivil behavior and actions by “certain” staff member with the ultimate goal to spread lies and make certain volunteers look discourteous and ill intended. On a personal experienced, I was ridiculed by one of the assistant managers due to what she deemed to be my sexual orientation; going out of her way to out me to clients (parents with children). After catching her in the act of “outing me” – I confronted her and told her it was inappropriate for her to be discussing this with clients, as well as expressing that even if I was; why would it matter? The ensuing days I noticed certain parents would tell their kids not to be around me or speak to me. I heard some of the parents talking about how this particular employee had told them I was Gay; and should be vigilant about me due to the stereotype’s LGTBQ people have around Children. WHATEVER THAT MEANS! Also, following these events I was also rescinded from doing Arts and Crafts with some of the kids because the same employee started going around telling staff members and clients that I was making rainbow bikini arts and crafts; when in reality I was making a rainbow butterfly with purple wings for a client who shared with me that her best friend had passed away (It was her way of wanting to commemorate her). Additionally, I had a horrible experience primarily with the head security guy who goes by the name Mr. Glenn; who I honestly see as a childish bully. It was very inappropriate of him to speak politics at the workplace (Made it clear he was all about TRUMP and anybody who wasn’t for him he would retaliate against). I have nothing against either side of the political spectrum, but this man purposely would go out of his way to make it known where he stands politically. Some volunteers who I spoke to also mentioned they left for this reason. On top of this, multiple parents (clients) spoke to me candidly to speak to HR directly due to certain staff members having it personally out for me and creating issues and making up lies to make me look bad. Sadly, the most shocking incidents came when I was assaulted by one of the Case Managers (which is recorded on surveillance video) in front of the Shelter Manager (2017); which he did nothing nor addressed it. From this moment, I decided it was no longer acceptable for me to give my time as a volunteer, nor continue donating to an organization with such hateful employees. I did want to state that some of the employees did treat me very well and respectfully, but a percentage of them behaved uncivil towards me and other volunteers (who also left due to being treated unjustly). I think this organization is doing great things for the community, but I believe strongly that some of the employees have some serious civil/unprofessional issues that need to be addressed and resolved. To conclude, I am not asking for special rights; but rather the courteous reverence as a human being of being treated with respect, dignity and civility - even if you may not agree with “my lifestyle.” I stand in good faith that Operation Hope Vista moving forward will address these issues, and to ensure they never happen to anybody else.

Great People! They truly help homeless families and single women. Staff are all caring individuals who come together to help those in great need. They even spend their weekends on site. A different chruch, business, even the Federal Government delivers dinner each night. (Thank you all. You are appreciated! Good Bless and Protect you all!) Operation Hope is Home. 🏡

Call first to check if they need / are accepting clothes donations. They don't have a lot of storage space.
