This place is a treasure!!! Hiking trail, fishing, astonishing scenery. It stays busy so don’t roll in late and expect to find a spot. Vault toilets. Some spots with hitching post for a horse or two. Tents, campers (not big rigs) friendly. The wildflowers, reflective views of the lake and brooks/streams are enough by themselves. It IS busy. Lots of day users who fish/ hike and some even swim in the frigid cold lake waters. The area around the lake can be boggy so bring rubber boots if you plan to fish the edges. Many canoe and kayak in this tiny lake. We saw locals getting wedding pics done their ! That proves what a treasure it is. Ample Day use parking. Be careful of health concerns as this is at about 10,900 to 11,000 plus feet above sea level. Enjoy!

Beautiful little lake but very mossy and hard to get up close to it without sinking.

Unreal free campground. Easily one of, if not the best campground we have ever stayed at. Almost 11,000 feet and right on a lake. Spots are great with a few relatively secluded ones that are about 100 meters from parking.

Will need to make sure you have proper gear for a winter camp. Good chance for significant snow and subzero temps

I don't drive, don't have a license, live in NYC. Question, Can you fly there and walk or is driving essential? Like most areas in this country, give me any European cities where driving isn't at all necessary.

You will need a car to get to this campground. There are shuttles from the airport into the town of Durango
