Maine's preeminent expert on employment law! After being put in a tough situation by an employer I reached out to Maine Employee Rights Group for assistance. From the very beginning of the case, every member of the staff was extremely helpful as well as courteous and they all went above and beyond to do whatever they could to assist me. Chad Hansen is, rightfully so, considered to be the top Plaintiff's attorney for employment disputes in the State of Maine. In my case he repeatedly demonstrated why this is true with not only his extensive knowledge and understanding of the law but also with his natural ability to communicate and empathize with his clients situation. Thanks to Chad and his amazing staff my family and I have gone from an extremely dire situation to one where, for the first time in a long time, we can feel secure. I am eternally grateful to Maine Employee Rights Group for this and cannot put into words how much they have done for my family and how much it means to us. They also did all of this on a contingency basis and put in all the effort without any immediate payment and no guarantee of any future payment. I absolutely would recommend this law firm to any person who feels that they have been treated illegally by their employer. They demonstrate time and time again that they truly care about the people that they represent with their unwavering commitment and they are the best at what they do.

Our experience with the Maine Employee Rights Group was excellent. Chad and the whole team(Barb and Patty) were all incredibly professional and extremely helpful. They made a rather bad situation much more manageable and went above and beyond for our family. A ton of thanks to the team there. Our family is in a much better situation due to their hard work.

Lisa Butler and the Maine Employee Rights Group were invaluable in helping my family and me through a difficult time. After exhausting all avenues within my own abilities, I knew my only option was to seek a competent attorney. Lisa took my case and walked me through the process making it easy. She answered my questions, no matter how trivial (even on the weekend!) and most importantly believed my story. Now that my issue has been resolved, I have a peaceful mind. I can put my future towards more productive pursuits such as my education, career and family, and I credit Lisa for making this possible. Lisa was completely forthcoming and honest throughout the process, and was able to make the extremely complex legal language simple and easy to understand. I made the right decision in choosing the Maine Employee Rights Group, and would highly recommend Lisa Butler to anyone that is seeking an excellent, hardworking attorney that can be trusted.

If you speak with a manager about your availability and they give you a verbal ok and then put you on schedule for a time your not available. And call it a no call no show when you don’t come in. Can you be fired?

I am a full-time employee getting less hours then a part-time employee is that right?

Unless you have a contract for a particular number of hours per week, there would be no legal recourse against your employer if he/she reduces your hours and gives another employee more hours (even if the employee is "part time").

I don't believe that is permissible, but I suggest you contact the Maine Department of Labor to get their input.
