Tough but totally doable hike. About a 9 mile loop if you hit Pulpit, the Pinnacle and Appalachian Trail on the way down. View is worth it!

8 miles! If you take the road to the astronomy observatory it cuts off close to a mile. But it is STEEP. The view from Pulpit Rock is great. Hiking from there to the Pinnacle is slow and very rocky. At times the trail can be difficult to follow. The Pinnacle makes it all worth while. The view is stunning. The hike back is much easier. Some people come up to Pinnacle and then return. Probably could be done in under 2.5 hours. Well worth the hike, just wear good solid shoes.

You won't find any restrooms and the parking situation can get rather packed, but this is an excellent day hike, approximately 8 miles to the top and back with great views! We usually complete it in under 4 hours. Once you get past the lake, things get steeper, which is where the most huffing and puffing happen. Once you get to the Appalachian Trail sign (take a right), its an easy walk to the peak.

Great trail. Great views. Worth the 9.6 hours hike. Trail is moderate to difficult depending on the path that you take. I started out hard by doing the hike counter clockwise. More uphill and you will get to the first outlook at Pulpit Rock first then to the pinnacle. Really give you some leg workout.
