I'm really glad I visited. There is a nice, short 'interpretive walk' around the site. However, the plastic coating on the interpretive signs is yellowed and cracked and there were some of them that I simply could not read. Also, as near as I could tell, only two of the signs actually were about the specific area while the otjers were general information about the period.

Enjoyed this relatively easy walk out to the archeological site. The informational signs help to imagine what the land contained and how people lived off the land. A single lane, gravel entry road from the highway, but there are a few pull outs.

I have trouble walking but still manage. I can rest easily along the way. Most times I take my grandchildren ages 12 and 14. They love it here! I also bring my 2 chihuahuas with us, they have a ball! We stop and read the signs along the way and about halfway through the loop we have a picnic lunch. I only live about 4 miles away but let me tell you, its my favorite place in the world! I think I will plan a trip this coming weekend, time for another picnic!

A really interesting wooly mammoth kill site. Also, the evidence of a catastrophic event as you can see the ash layer for yourself.

The Clovis culture is a prehistoric Paleo-Indian culture, named for distinct stone tools found in close association with Pleistocene fauna at Blackwater Locality No. 1 near Clovis, New Mexico, in the 1920s and 1930s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clovis_culture
Not very far. I would say less than a quarter mile.
No hot springs
