What a great place for a long weekend family vacation. We are a family of four who live in Maine but who had never been to Vinalhaven. We brought my parents and my cousin's family for a four-day visit. This is a great hotel with reasonable summer rates, wonderful water views and you can walk to everything in town - including the candy store (which was our kids' favorite part) and the grocery store (and really nice beer and spirits store), which is right across the street. The breakfast - including homemade granola - is awesome. Sarah and her crew will shuttle you to kayaking with seals in the Basin or taking a dip in Lawson's Quarry. And a beautiful hike to Lane's Island Preserve is walking distance. She'll pick you up and drop you off at the ferry too, so you don't have to worry about bringing your car.

If you want a place "on" the water, where you can watch all the lobster boats come and go. Hear and watch the the water rush under your motel in beautiful surroundings. Clean, comfortable room. This is it. Grocery and restaurant 2 minutes. No bull.
