What a treasure in the heart of Downtown Portland. I felt instantly transformed into a bygone era, as if I were a guest of the Morse family. Painstakingly restored with tremendous discipline to not only the period but of also the original family. Simply transformative. Our guide was a delightful college student, Riley, who was knowledgeable, full of facts and whimsy, and made us feel like a special guest. Great gift shop as well. Recommend for anyone who has 30 minutes and wants to experience something truly unique.

The mansion was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Worth a trip even after Christmas. Tour is self guided with numerous docent volunteers to ask questions. Budget 30 to 45 minutes for the visit.

What a beautiful museum and so wonderfully decorated for the Christmas season. The staff had so many interesting stories and information about the location, I cannot wait to see it again in the warmer months for a new view. I Highly recommend visiting the Victoria Mansion.

This place is absolutely stunning. Especially during the holidays. It takes an hour or two to get through and as off 2021 only 2 stories are open. But that being said it's still so worth visiting. And it's affordable too.

Victoria Mansion was built between 1858 and 1860 as a summer home for two people, Ruggles Sylvester Morse and his wife Olive. Both were originally from Maine, but Morse made his fortune in New Orleans, where he operated luxury hotels.

Hello Ci, thank you for your question! Ruggles and Olive Morse, the original owners of Victoria Mansion, did not have any children. The Green Bedroom was the master bedroom, while the Red Bedroom was a guest bedroom. When the Libby family moved into the house in the 1890s following Mr. Morse's death, the Red Bedroom and Sitting Room were converted into bedrooms for the family's younger children.
