Cadillac Mountain at sunrise or anytime throughout the day is such a beautiful area. While the sunrise trip we made was super foggy, the experience and just beauty of nature makes the trip worth it. Make sure to bring a hoodie/jacket/blanket to keep you warm from the chill wind. You do have to book the sunrise ticket at exactly at 10am because they will sell out by 10:02am.

Try to visit at sunrise. As of summer 2022 you need a reservation for your car. We went in July and I reserved my spot in April. We did a 3:15 am wake up time as the sunrise was at 4:55. Between getting up, driving from Bar Harbor, and sitting in the line to drive up the mountain we were there less than an hour before sunrise. We picked a seat on top of a boulder, we walked down a bit to get that seat. But totally worth it. No one in our pictures and the view was breathtaking.

The sunrise scene gives the west coast sunrises, a run for their money. The glorious portion of the viewing was an hour before the sunrise. The only short coming was the mad dash to the web portal to secure the limited parking tickets at the site. These tickets must be secured 2 days prior to actual viewing date. Overnight parking was prohibited. A midnight hike from north ridge trail was deemed highly challenging, with lots of hazards on the trail. With grit and determination, it is do able, alas, just not with me. Sunrise scene rated at 4.8

I got blessed with sunny day, saying that it can be very foggy. Amazing views. Lots of trails, just watch for cables that will guide you via trails. Some trailes very challenging and requires good shoes and physical fit. Please stay on trail. Boulders even look like bold, but it is layers of moss on it. Very fragile and it grows very slow. Otherwise, enjoy it.

The sign says May 1. I went up 6:30 PM on a Monday evening without one.. Not a park employee in sight
There is a specific time slot for sunrise. Plus I don't think they close the gates because you can go there overnight to stargaze
You can go there at midnight. It's a very popular spot for stargazing and for taking pictures of the sunrise.
Sunrise Service is awesome from the top of the mountain. They are provided by the churches in town so the best way to find one is to go to the websites of the churches themselves. I haven't seen any listed yet, so that's the best I can tell you right now. Don't forget there smaller churches in NE Harbor and SW Harbor. I will be checking soon as well but have no further info as of today
