Small museum with very good photography exhibits, admission is free, donations encouraged
Strangelove
A brilliant museum with pooh both photojournalism and creative photography. At least in June 2022.

I walked in unexpectedly and were immediately welcomed by very friendly staff. So I decided to take a look. It is a small museum but exhibits many outstanding photos. I am fascinated by the method of photographing animals and humans from the same spot; and see how they turn out as a combination.

This photography gallery has free admission, but donations are highly recommended. I was amazed by the exhibition of the children's photography. Ther is a great future ahead of them. In addition, more interesting exhibits are on display. The museum also has a bookstore. Highly recommend visiting.

They ask for a suggested donation. It is always worth far more than the suggested price!
Take them to the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park. They have a huge collection of historical photographs and the archive librarian will be a great help. They have to preserve photos and antiques as a part of the collection, so they'll probably have some great strategies for you :)
The parking lot in between the Natural History Museum and the Prado Theater. Exit Park boulevard at the Spanish Village Arts Center.
