First time staying here and I'm so impressed. Ranger George and all of the crew including the camp hosts are great. The state park is clean, very quiet, and has a nice trail to walk. There is a wonderful swim beach as well. Showers are hot and take quarters but not to worry there is a change machine right there. It was a really nice place to stay.

Bridgeport State Park encompasses sizable acreage, much of which remains wilderness. Just up from Chief Joseph Dam, on the north bank of Rufus Woods Lake, a green oasis in the boulders awaits the visitor. The campground caters to RVs and tents. Separate Day-Use parking lies above the swimming area. Paths run throughout the developed Park grounds, making it a great place for a scenic walk. Green grass, mature trees, and beautiful Columbia River views enhance the setting. A wide, double dock boat launch serves the park. Over by the group camping section, I spotted a signed trail that leads through big boulders up to a rocky viewpoint. It's short, but pretty. (Watch out for snakes and bugs in summer.) Note also that a trail system connects the park with various viewpoints and parks next to Chief Joseph Dam. Walk or bike these.

A quiet park with ample space between sites. Not much to do out here. The nearby town of Bridgeport doesn’t have much to offer and the park beach is covered in goose poop. It’s still a nice, quiet state park.

This park is easy to find, near Chief Joseph Dam not far from Hwy 17 near the town of Bridgeport. It is right beside a golf course and is on the shore of Rufus Woods Lake that is part of the Columbia River. There is a large parking area near the boat launch with lots of room for boat trailers and trucks. The area is hot and dry in summer but there are some nice big trees for shade and irrigated grass. Nice playground, beach with grass, sand, gravel and rocks. Interesting rock formations called “Haystacks” are found all around the park. The showers require to quarters 50 cents for 3 min. The sites are level but there is no privacy due to a lack of bushes or undergrowth. All the sites a located well back from the water front with no lakeside or view sites. Just green grass, pavement and gravel under the scattered trees. Sites have either no services or power & water. Dump station available at campground. This is a nice quiet park.
