This is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The gardens are stellar and the rangers are sweet. Must see. Add to the bucket list. I couldn't pay the fee but my rousing rendition of the star spangled banner and America the beautiful won me the entry.

Shore Acres has so much beauty to see! From the botanical gardens that boast beautiful roses, rhododendron bushes blooming to the sky, tulips, and all kinds of greenery (you can even have a wedding there!), to Simpson beach were you can find seashells smaller than a fingernail! Even on a cloudy day when the water is murky, it is still quite beautiful. There are many trails along the coastline to hike as well. It is $5 to park inside ($1s or $5s only, no change given) but well worth it to catch glimpse of chipmunks, deer, and even bunnies!

A very nice state park. I was there on a calm wave day but the views were still tremendous. The sandstone and unique geology of the this area is on full display here. Some good came out of the 1929 economic crash which forced the sale of this property to the state as this place is too special for a private residence. Numerous hiking trails leave the park from the north and south connecting with the Oregon Coast Trail. All of my hikes revealed great vistas. Once you tire of the view from above, there is a trail to Simpson beach from the back of the gardens. It is a sandy pocket beach on the south edge of the park which offers some more great views.

Until last weekend I've only ever been there during the night time for their Christmas lights. Let me just say I have been missing out. Their flower garden is lovely and the view of the ocean is to die for.

It starts thanksgiving evening at 4pm until new years. You will love it!
I'd say no. It's rather wavey and there are riptides and sneaker waves. Also super jagged rocks.
I believe so. Not sure when though.
Unfortunately, no, they are canceled again this year due to COVID-19.
Yes. It is open year-round. The gardens are free but there is a $5 cash only parking fee unless you have an Oregon State day use pass.
Yes, the park is open. Pets are not allowed outside of vehicles unless they are an approved service animal. Closest accomodations are Charleston or Coos Bay.
No they are not doing Christmas lights this year due to covid
Usually in January and May. In 2018 we saw them on May 27th.
Donna will yell at you, but you should do it anyways. Just clean up after them, keep em on a leash. All that reasonable stuff
11/22/18. To 12/31/18 from 4:00am to 9:30pm . Over 325,000 lights
Shore acres park does not have camping. But down the road is the Bastendorff camp ground, and I am pretty sure they're open year around. It's a really nice camp ground.
I’m a violinist, have played two weddings there, and last year, one memorial service. People wore masks to the memorial.
Yes, i saw that too. Wondering specifically about national holidays like labor day.
No. This is a day use park only. There are many campgrounds nearby.
The thing about the Oregon coast you never know and even rains in the summer sometimes any day is a good day at the beach! Storms are awesome sunny days are awesome cloudy days are awesome it depends on what you like
In Spanish Head in Lincoln City is built down the cliffside right on the beach you can actually go down the elevator and get off and walk onto the sand
No, in fact, they are very strict about having dogs out on the grounds anywhere even before you get to the garden entry.
Hours 4 to 10pm, cost 5 dollars per car. Lodging state parks have yurts to stay at or Lodging in coos bay is available.
A senior park pass is for Federal agencies like the National Park Service. State parks are not national parks. So, no. However, it only costs $5 for a day pass at Shore Acres.
