Very beautiful view. This place is often less crowded so it is easier to find parking than when trying to go to Tamarack.

If you are a surfer and looking for the place Surfline calls North Ponto, this is NOT it. The Surfline cam/report is taking about the North side if the Ponto Jetty a mile South of this place. This place to Surfers is called Dip in the Road. It's really fun on a mid tide and can hold a decent size swell (several feet overhead). Parking is limited, and the outhouse style bathroom has been locked recently.

This is one of my favorite places to go it's Paradise for me I just imagine my kids running along the side of the beach with the water splashing up against their feet, When I go to heaven this is exactly how I want my Paradise.

There is a dog beach on Agua Hedionda - in the back bay. It is labeled on Google Maps. It is a pretty contained area too.
A sign says 7am-11pm, but I didn't see a gate to lock the parking.. overall, very nice beach. Enjoy!!
South Ponto has a pay lot, south of the jetty. Free parallel along Coast Highway north of there. Another free small lot with easy access and a bathroom north of there at surf spot called Campgrounds (north end of beach camp sites). Have fun!
Yes, you can surf fish from the beach. However, you have to watch for surfers early and beach goers later.
Dogs are not allowed at North Ponto, nor at any beach in Carlsbad. The nearest on leash beach, is Cardiff state beach. The nearest off leash beach is dog beach in Del Mar.
There is at So. Carlsbad State Beach adjacent to "North Ponto beach" (how the question from Google labeled the location). You need to reserve a site through the California online reservation system. You can sometimes pick-up a tent only site at the park itself: first come-first served basis.
