Tried to eat here once a couple months ago, was told they didn't have pizzas because the pizza cook got fired. Decided to try again, but left after standing at the host stand beside a sign saying there would be an extremely long wait due to staff issues. The female manager looked at us a couple times, but never left the kitchen area to quote us a wait time, even though she didn't appear busy, especially considering there was practically no one in the restaurant. We left. Third try we decided to do take out since last 2 experiences didn't work out too well. We called for curbside pick up, and when we arrived we were told we had to come in and get the order because there wasn't a take out person scheduled and no one would be able to bring the food out to us. I went in to get the order, and it was bagged up on the counter ready for pick up, already cold from just sitting out (i think they used to put orders in a holding box to keep them warm). This used to be a good place to eat, even after the pandemic. Not sure what happened, but seems like they need to get new management in there to start with. We won't be returning any time soon.

This weekend I visited the California Pizza Kitchen at Polaris and took note of their accessibility features. The restaurant is located inside the mall, right near an entrance/exit on the first floor. I first noticed that there were handicap parking spots right outside the mall entrance, and the sidewalk leading up to the entrance had a large curb ramp for wheelchair accessibility. The entrance had automatic doors with motion detectors, which could make it more accessible to those who may have difficulty opening the door on their own. When walking up to the restaurant itself, I noticed that the big front doors were wide open, leading to an open-concept floor plan which could also create a more accessible environment for those who may need help opening the door or are in a wheelchair. The booths were low to the ground and large in size, which could provide more accessibility to those with physical disabilities. It could also serve as space for a guide dog to sit near the table for an individual who is visually impaired or blind. There was natural light and dim lighting, as well as a muted color palette throughout the restaurant, which could provide accessibility to those with sensory disabilities. Additionally, exits were clearly labeled and the menus were paper, not on your phone. I was also impressed with the customer service received at the restaurant. A staff member noticed that one of our pizzas came out smaller than the other, so they made us a fresh one for no charge. The server was very attentive to our table and knowledgable on the menu, which could help those with intellectual disabilities when ordering. There was music playing, televisions on, and guests conversing, which could be overstimulating for individuals with sensory disabilities. Overall, I would say this location was accessible for the most part, more for those with physical disabilities.

Dined in Sunday for brunch. Great service & food was tasty as always. Wish I would have been seated more spread out from other occupied tables as the restaurant was very open due to recently opening for the day but other than that, enjoyed my experience today.

The portions were smaller than expected, or at least from what we remembered from previous visits. We had 3 people in our party, which meant 2 slices each for the pizza. Everything was prepared and tasted fresh, however. We did appreciate the great service, the waitress even comped our dessert once we signed up for the loyalty program even though the reward usually only shows up in the account after a few hours from signup. If you like greasy pizza, this is not the place for you. If you like rustic, oven-smoked flavor, give CPK a chance. Total was $53, including tip, for 3 people.

There is no "happy hour" at CPK. As in, no drink or food specials during any set time. But its still a happy place! 😁
