Hungry Hound is a small, casual diner. There are seven wooden tables with wooden benches indoors and a few tables in front. Only one indoor table has chairs with back support, so if a customer has back problems, then avoid this place or eat in front if weather permits. The place had a friendly feeling to it. The one think that bothered me is that it was hot indoors. So either Hungry Hound has no air-conditioning, or they keep the temperature turned down too low. I think outdoor the temperature was mid-80s (F). I ordered a hot dog and French fries, which were OK, nothing special. But the Hungry Hound had a special – shakes (several flavors) on sale so I ordered a Strawberry shake and it was excellent. Yum. I have not had one in about 10 year and this one got me to thinking maybe I will buy another one this summer. From what I could tell, the only parking available was on the street (no meters). Perhaps there is parking in back, but I do not know. The customer orders food at the cashier’s and she calls your number to pick up the food. From what I could assess, I suspect that the customer should buss their own food by retuning plates etc. to the front counter or into a waste container.

Seems like a place with some history. Menu items are not that cheap. Roughly $15 for a sandwich and fries. It would have been nice if they would let you use credit card for under $15.

Hungry Hound: the cure to hangry. I was really super hungry after waiting for a service person to finish up their job at our home. I was in the mood for sandwiches and Hungry Hound was super close by and matched what I wanted. When I got there and saw the menu, my craving for a burger promptly pummeled my craving for a sandwich. We definitely over ordered during our visit, but I also could have done worse. 🤣 (I was eyeing the cheese dog in addition to everything... Good thing I didn't.) What we got: - avocado burger - cheeseburger - small fries (omg the portion is huge) - onion rings - chocolate milkshake In my experience, it's always the most unassuming places with the best milkshakes. Hungry Hounds was just the right thickness and texture, with a great chocolate ice cream flavor. The onion rings are a hard pass. To be honest, I don't think I've had a good onion rings anywhere in decades. The batter overpowered the onion. The fries were great. Hot, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Just the way they should be! The portion was super generous and I'm really glad I didn't get a large. My eyes were definitely larger than my stomach for this meal. The cheeseburger was super standard with all the fixings: lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo. It was delicious and totally hit the spot. I didn't have the avocado burger, but I could see they gave some generous slices of it! I'll definitely be back to try their sandwiches and hot dogs next time!
