Don't be a citizen and expect them to respond or engage with you. You apparently can't get a community dialogue started. When folks where verbally abusing the staff I got it. However they won't return a citizens phone call about. Basic concerns.

Really bad choices. The people are not being represented.

Questions & Answers

What if anything, is being done about the huge homeless problem in Portland ??? So many tents, sleeping bags etc. everywhere !!! It is an epidemic. Health hazard that makes our streets/neighbourhoods unsafe & unsightly. Where are the shelters ?

Like in most cities: Absolutely nothing that will actually help. The solution to fixing homelessness is to increase mental health support and balance the gap between the rich and the impoverished by massively increasing taxes on the rich. That won't happen in Portland.

What about rent control ?? Affordable housing ??? Is Portland the next Los Angeles ???? Homelessness needs to be addressed now !!!!

I wouldn't come to Oregon, the Rent prices are OUT OF CONTROL HIGH. I am effectually moving in 2 years time to a State that is more affordable. Gas prices are rising and there is zero safety in the city with the continued violence and riots. My mother had to cancel her visit for all the great hot spots of Portland because there is zero ensured safety.

What have you done with the city of my birth? I visited and saw how ugly it has become with grafftii, tent cities, and trash. What are you doing proactively?

I am on your side. Now in transitional living through a shelter, I have survived the blizzard without support of our government. There is a coalition and you are welcome to join, we will clean these streets and address the homeless crisis properly; not in an over-costly way!

Why do you allow my safety to be jeopardized when I have to walk in the street to avoid homeless tents throughout Portland 23 rd to the Willamette Please!!

I totalled my bike 3 days ago riding on the street to avoid the cluster of tents on the sidewalk. Lets work together! There is a coalition forming and we will clean these streets and provide support to the homeless.

How do I contact the mayor by email? Or who is in charge of taking letters of opinion concerning extremists groups reported in the Portland Area.

The fact that you asked this on Google is funnier than anything I could add!

We were considering a couple weeks in forests outside of Portland. Not now. The west coast is dangerous. Mayors and governors out there act more like gang leaders. So, the whole west coast is now a no go zone.

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” ― Helen Keller, The Open Door

Does the mayor think the police shooting of John Elifritz on 4/7/18 was justified or not? After watching the video of this shooting over and over again, I could see no justification at all. Looks like murder by cop firing squad to me.

He ran at the police with a weapon in his hand that is justification for lethal force in every department across the United States, he obviously was mentally ill and this is a clear cut case of "suicide by cop". Now let me post a question to you. Where did you get your law degree? Because you need to get a refund. Here is a multi-angled video posted by the Oregonian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8Z3oekEJGc

Why can't the mayor issue emergency restrictions on open-carry and concealed-carry within city limits??

Nancy Stenzen | Aug 18, 2021
Chairside M | Aug 18, 2021

Are you kidding? Sure, the dangerous folks will follow that restriction... they'll come to your house if they know you have no means of protection, you dont know these groups are threatening to hit neighborhoods? Ya'll are reaping what you sew, good luck.
