Prompt service and strong care. A VERY good experience overall! I love this credit union!

I sold a car for $6,000 and got a check from Navy Federal Credit Union and had no problems cashing it. I walked in with the check, and walked out with the cash with ease, no hassle like that much tends to cause elsewhere. Also, I'm not a member, but there was no fee which is highly unusual and much appreciated as it can be $5-10% of the check depending on the bank, like Key bank will charge an outlandish fee even if the check is from their bank.

Came in for some information about updating my name, the man at the front counter was helpful with that one piece of information. I take it that he might be new only because when I mentioned my TSP and asked to speak to someone about getting it transferred to NavyFed, he asked me what TSP is, I told him Trift Savings Plan, same blank expression, I then said Military equivalent of a 401k. He then gave me an excuse to not get me set up with a member representative and sent me on my way. I think that maybe more training might be helpful.

A joke. The went ahead and deposited a STOLEN $7000 check that was placed in a OVERNIGHT ATM...... No questions ask. Now, 3 months later, I'm still waiting for them to send the asked for documentation so that I can get my money back. But because I'm not a member they can't help me. $7000 from an ATM NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous. I have to go inside my bank with the other signee and both show proof of ID to deposit a $50 check...... FIFTY!!! Utterly outrageous

They do have a mortgage loan officer unsure of a direct phone number
Internally but if you want a human you have to call Pensacola 's 0perations. Dial the number on the back of plastic.
You should be able to cash it at Navy Fereral
As far as I know you have to be a member or in the military to open an account. Someone can sponsor you who is already a member.
That depends on the source of the check, the amount and other other variables. Just like with any bank credit unions tend to put the most restrictions on new account holders or "members". When you go open your account, let the person opening g your account know about your concern and ask if hold will apply. In the branch is the best way to find out if a hold will apply to your opening deposit.
Ask the teller if it can be pushed, I had 800 dollars that needed to be put in for home repairs and they said if it's for certain emergencies like that then they will waive it through, no penalties or fees. Just ask.
