I grew up in this parish and it’s home. I’ve moved out of the area as well as my siblings and we still attend St. Rita. Four generations of my family regularly attend mass on Sundays. The parish is rich in diversity with music and community. They have three contemporary/traditional choirs,-Folk, Mission, Voices in Praise; Spanish and Samoan Community Choir and the Gospel Choir. The Children's Choir sings monthly during the school year. The Filipino community leads devotions and fellowship to the Blessed Mother for the Month of May and October, Santo Nino, San Lorenzo Ruiz and the Novena tradition of Simbang Gabi. The Spanish community leads celebrations for Our Lady of Guadalupe and La Posada. The Samoan Community hosts their White Sunday tradition where many traditions of chants and dances are part of the Liturgy. There is also the annual Mardi Gras where they serve Louisiana style gumbo. The Diocesan Revival is held at St. Rita every other year. If you’re new to the area or considering this parish, I encourage you to attend their Alpha course which runs twice a year and opened to all. The people are friendly and the Church has been renovated and beautiful inside. There ample parking across the street, too.
