An amazing spot even if your not catholic. The garden are beautiful. The grotto is awe inspiring. The main chapel will calm your soul. The meditation rooms have phenomenal views of mt. saint helens. It doesn’t take to long to explore the whole thing. Really great for a quick afternoon jaunt. It’s with the $9 to ride up to the gardens. There are so many statues to enjoy and the air is filled with a sweet aroma. Highly recommend. Will be visiting again.

Very nice. The ambiance inside is serene. The surrounding area does not reflect what you will find here. The garden itself is well maintained with a duck and squirrels but also some of the loveliest flowers and bushes. There were bench's and two ponds. My family enjoyed it. We make everything funny, so we had inside joke fun. Might be nice to take a friend. You definitely want to pray if you're into it.

We were so excited by the descriptions... worried we wouldn't have enough time to enjoy it all... it was tiny. People weren't friendly or helpful. For the price it was not worth it. You could walk through the whole ground twice in five minutes. The lights were beautiful. Still highly overrated and overpriced.

The Grotto has easily become one of my favorite venues to photograph in Oregon. This venue is absolutely beautiful! It has incredible details inside the buildings and also in the garden. For any couple who is wanting to get married in a church, this is the best spot in Portland. Thankful for the staff is who friendly, kind and professional to work with. I look forward to working with them again!

There's dedicated parking spots and the entire Grotto should be handicapped accessible.
Absolutely! The pathway beigins at the parking lot. It's even wheelchair friendly as well!
I paid 10.00 and 5.00 for kids wasn't worth it

Yes, absolutely. You may bring your own candle or we have 7-day candles available for purchase. The cradles where they are lit are outside surrounding The Grotto Cave.

Yes. I saw dogs too. For unicorns and dragon pets, just pretend they are not you'rs at the gate, they will fit right in with the archangel. ;-)
Festival of lights thru December 30 Nightly 5 – 9:30 p.m. 15$
There is about a quarter of a mile of paved walking paths in the Upper Gardens, and about the same on the lower level. There are many places to stop and sit along the way.
Yes if you purchase access for upper garden.
There is an elevator which takes you to the Upper Level, with a ramp up to it. However, we allow dogs on the lower level and it is beautiful. On the lower level you find the Grotto, the Station of the Cross trail, St. Philip Benizi’s Retreat, the Chapel, the Christus Garden, the St. Peregrine Shrine, the Visitor Center and Gift Shop. We hope you have a wonderful visit.
Through Dec. 16: The Gift Shop is open, Mass is celebrated daily for those who pre-register. The grounds and gardens are closed. On normal days, the lower level is free and there is a charge to the Upper Gardens. More info at thegrotto.org.
We have a bike rack by our main entrance. You will need to bring your own lock, however. Enjoy your visit!

The parking lot is located off Sandy Blvd. It is very well marked whether traveling east or west.
As Luai said, it is wheelchair accessible. But if the wheelchair user does not have good upper body and arm strength, a motor or a pusher is advisable. I'm 64 with MS and I managed the upper grotto gardens manually, but had to take a few rest breaks. Fortunately, even in summer, there are plenty of beautiful, shady resting spots up there.
I believe the lights stay up until New year, the last night is the 30th. Adults are 11.00 Seniors 10.00
