I have long had anxiety around needles. CSL staff were caring and supportive throughout the entire registration process and my first visits that my anxiety has disappeared entirely. They are knowledgeable to my every simple or complex question and made me feel wholly taken care of. Their kindness and professionalism is consistent!

The new donor processing was kind of long but what I was expecting. Informed consent and sanitation/ sterilization are their top priorities from when you walk in the door to when you leave. Their donation pay scales are very clear and when nice that they offer bonuses randomly throughout the year just because. I am 32 and never have donated anything before but the way I have been guided through their process I feel silly for not having donated sooner. If you decide to become a new patient edge out half a day (morning or afternoon) for the same process, then future visits will he more streamlined. Plus as of right now make $825 collectively after your first initial 8 visits, what do you have to lose.

The process was easier than I thought it would be. Expect long wait times. Friendly and helpful staff. The phlebotomists were extremely patient and accommodating with it being my first time donating plasma and me having a hatred for needles. They kept asking if I was comfortable or if I needed anything. For first timers, I recommend drinking lots of water before going in and bringing a sweatshirt or blanket. It’s cold in there. Clean facility, nice staff! Wish some of the donors were more respectful, but other than that, nothing to complain about!

Worst experience ever. My first time donating plasma ever and some lady names Margaret messed my arm up so bad I couldn’t donate for over two weeks. Sucked because I only donated to save up some extra money for vacation and ended up not even being able to save anything because she messed my arm up and I wasn’t able to donate for over two weeks before my vacation. THEN!!! After she messed my arm up she gave ZERO instruction for how to take care of it at home. So it inevitably got even worse. Went back in for my check up and the doctor on site asked what care instructions they gave me and when I said none she was so visibly upset. Anyways, avoid this place. Undertrained staff putting needles in peoples arms and if they mess up they’ll treat you like it’s your fault.

As State Dept. said, you need your Social Security card (actual, not a copy) or your most recent tax year's W2 form (actual, not copy), your State ID, and a current piece of mail. All 3 must have the same address or you will be rejected from donation. Additionally there are weight restrictions & tattoo restrictions (call for more info). You mustn't be running a fever or feeling otherwise ill, and you can't be an IV drug user or engage in risky sexual behaviors (HIV/AIDs risk). You need to pass their physical exam. Your veins must also be able to handle a 17 gauge needle (which is rather large). They will not use smaller. So if you have small, shallow, "thread-like" veins you'll run a high risk of not being able to donate.
I got savaged by a tech last time I went. This lady couldn't find a vein and wouldn't stop just jabbing the needle around. When I finally couldn't take it and loudly asked her to stop, they came over and tried to make me the bad guy. I had a deep bruise for over 2 weeks, I'm afraid to go back
CSL staff said that to donate at 2 different centers, your mailing address needs to be within 50 miles of either center. It may also take you a bit longer to check in as they may have to manually clear you to donate if you go back & forth. Hope that helps!
The amount isn't giaranteed. Last numbers I knew of were $60 for first and second donations, then $40 for third and fourth donations, then $70 for the fifth donation but ONLY if all five are done within your first 45 days.
No
Not sure but they have a drug sheet there. Very friendly staff. I'm sure they can answer if you call.
You can donate 2 times per week and you don't have to pay to donate
As long as you're in by 7:59 on weekdays or 4:59 on weekends they'll take you. Best to call to make sure
Depends on your weight. Also usually get more on your second donation of the week.
Not at all, but for your first donation make sure you show up as early as possible, also remember bto bring state id, piece of mail post maked recently and make sure you have a few hours to spare because the first donation you do can take a long time.
Sometimes 4 hrs. Take snacks to eat while you wait. You really want to donate with a full stomach.
Not that I am aware of. Pretty sure you just need to be an Oregon resident to donate in Oregon.
For an address? Yes you can if its stamped with the date within 30 days
I live in WA but donate in Oregon. They go by your zip code
There's a list of medications you cannot take while donating and that list changes periodically. The center will have that list.
It varies some, but the first 5 visits are a higher amount than the visits afterwards. The first 5 end up being about $250 in total. The ones thereafter range between $15-25 depending on your weight. If you donate 8 times in a month there tends to be a bonus of $50-80. So that tends to bring your monthly total to somewhere between $150-300 if you go that much to donate. As a caution, you'll build up a lot of scar tissue at your donation sites if you donate that much long term.
The methods for drawing and cycling blood hasn't changed, I strongly doubt the disqualifiers have changed, it might be a good idea to give them a call
