Dr. Balog and his cutting edge procedures have kept me going and given me a chance to find some joy in my life for the past 11 years. I have been a chronic pain patient for over 25 years and seen over 15 different doctors (some great, some ok and some not worth mentioning). My entire lumbar spine is shot and my thoracic is not much better, so both my legs and arms are a serious problem. The pain can be so horrific; I have even had a stroke and gone into shock several times. 12 years ago I was told several specialists that my spine was failing, that surgery was out and I needed good pain control. Started seeing Dr. Balog in 2014. Through steroid shots, nerve reduction, etc., he's given me back the use of my legs and arms/hands and although my spine is even worse than it was 12 years ago, my pain and quality of life is substantially better. Also a big plus, is Dr. Balog listens to the patient, for instance I insisted it was my thoracic, not my cervical injuries, that were causing my arm problems (which is abnormal), but he listened and went after the thoracic problems and my arms are much better. He has given me more information on the complications from the stroke then all the specialists I saw after the stroke (the stroke was determined at the time to be caused by extreme pain, as all other causes were ruled out). My roommate could barely walk in 2016 from hip pain, he decided it was her sacrum, not her hips, and he did a sacrum fusion and the pain disappeared.

It was a Blessing the day I found Dr. Baloug and Joe Knaus & team. I have nerve damage and back pain from a back injury that has made living life full of extreme agony and very difficult to function one minute at a time. I've been going to Dr. Balog for years for my ruptured disc and sciatica pain. Let me tell you, I've been to many pain management doctors/clinics and he was THE first doctor to treat me like a person and not some drug addict or complaining patient. He had compassion, took time and cared about my discomfort. I have three babies under three so he understood the importance of helping me manage my pain but doing so in a manner that I could still function and be active with my boys. Every other doctor wanted to either over medicate me or dismiss my pain. From the moment I met Dr. Balog, I felt understood and valued as a patient. He truly cared about my pain and acted appropriately to maintain it so that I could participate in life and be more active with my babies. I never feel drugged out of over medicated. I feel like I finally have my pain under control and my life back thanks to this AMAZING doctor. I highly recommend him, if you can get in. I think the word is out about how great he is. If you have pain and need a good spine doctor, he's your guy.
