I went up to the peak on a solo adventure from the water tower road, followed a small goat or deer path up the mountain. 6/10 difficulty and 10/10 view. Peaceful, got to watch hawks and hang gliders soar.

Awesome trails for biking or hiking well maintained. From technical to easy. When you just want a short drive to be in the woods. In the summer be aware that rattle snakes sun themselves on the trails sometimes just wait for them to leave.

Just a heads up to anyone hiking with dogs or alone, be careful and use your senses. I found fresh mountain lion tracks on March 4, 2022 going up the the pick and sledge trail. (The lighter in the pic is a full-size bic.) And also found a recently eaten deer skeleton slightly off trail of Grubstake right before the small stream crossing.

Sick! I’ve always been intimidated by Apex but finally crushed out the loop on a Tuesday afternoon. The variety of terrain is excellent and challenging. You can expect steep technical climbs, rocky descents, and rolling forest flow. Thanks to all those that maintain the trail. Definitely make your way to the top of enchanted forest and work your way back down.

Easy money. Gentle grades, not much that is super steep. Lot of sharp rocks, cactus, and goat heads - so make sure you have thorn-proof tires and tubes. Other than that, piece of cake. Peace
