I recently retired and was trying to update my DEERS to reflect my status so I could get healthcare coverage. I tried everything and called everybody I could get in touch with. Most people wouldn’t answer the phone or the ID card centers phones weren’t listed on the regions website or on Google. The guy at DCMC told me to go to an ID lab and have them do it. MCRD refuses to do it so I went to 32nd St., the retired ID lab is no longer on Harbor Drive but at anchors and spurs. I went over there and they were closed due to budget restraints. I came back the next day and the line was outrageous so I drove over to Coronado got in line for about 10 minutes and they totally took care of me. They were so friendly and knowledgeable and didn’t hesitate to help me. I am so lucky I found them. The Coronado pass an ID lab rocks!

Slow, no system, nor do they have a sense of urgency. Seems to be under staff all the time and absolutely slack.

Yes, veterans are still allowed on base, with all the privileges of pre-covid times.
