I have interviewed twice (with two different interviewers) and been moved onto secondary interviews with the client twice. I have the security experience and training but they let the client decide who the company hires and therefore have been passed over twice (for clarification purposes, I have met with the same client twice, for the same contract). All in the name of not having (in the clients mind) enough healthcare experience (I have 4 years doing volunteer medical work at 5,000+ person events, triple certified in crisis de-escalation, first aid, BLS, AED certifications). G4S is constantly advertising for the need for security professionals and maybe this is why. My own opinion, if a company feels like you would be a good addition but the client doesnt want you, then the company should hire you for other contracts. Whilst yes, the client has final say in what happens and who appears on a job site, they should not have the authority to tell a security company who provides contracted work who to hire. That authority should remain with the security company. That being said, anytime I encounter a G4S officer, they show professionalism and work under a great deal of pressure, all whilst exhibiting grace and skill at their profession. Hence why I rate at a neutral rating.

The Portland branch office will lie right to your face telling you what you want to hear and then will do the complete opposite when your back is turned. Untrustworthy, duplicitous and mean spirited. Everyone in the office is ritually fired for incompetence, negligent behavior or harassment and they are replaced by even worse people who have zero customer service and/or empathy skills and have a complete disregard for employees' rights and OSHA regulations. If you're a woman, prepare to get hit on. If you're a man, prepare to get threatened by people who think they have to prove how tough they are. The pay gets lower, the work gets harder and they expect you to wash out so they can bring more people in who will do more for less. Everyone is rude to each other and that's when you can get someone on the phone at all. Do not work for this company.
