Heading to NY for a long weekend, we were looking for a comfortable, affordable (for NY), clean place to stay while we were touristing. The St. Nicholas Inn was perfect. It has the charm of an old house and is well located, with the entrance to the 155th St. subway literally a few steps from the front door. We could be in Times Square in under 25 minutes. The rooms were spacious with high ceilings. These are not sterile, perfect hotel rooms. The furniture is a bit older and is varied. However, it was clean, spacious and comfortable. Think staying at a friend's house. Our host Lawrence was gracious and full of information without being intrusive. The continental breakfast was had lots of options and was tasty and filling. For those that don't mind non-standard charm, we wholeheartedly recommend the St. Nicholas Inn.

Do not book this hotel! I booked it months in advance for a stay and had to end up cancelling. They upfront took the entire payment and when I cancelled it said I would be refunded 5-8 business days. It is now over a month and I still have not received my refund. This place is a scam. Avoid at all costs.

A lovely little place with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean and cozy. Our room didn't have a bathroom, but the shared bathrooms were clean and nice. The Inn is also located VERY close to the subway, really nice if you wanna get around easy. The breakfast was nice aswell. In my opinion we got more than we payed for, so I would highly recomend this place if you don't crave a luxurious hotel.

This place offers a cheap option. A train trip is required to get you downtown Manhattan though. You get to share the bathroom and kitchen.
