I realize, especially during these extremely fraught and trying times, some things must be put on hold. We can't just do whatever entertaining thing we desire during a pandemic. However the one thing that isn't really able to be put off is euthanasia/cremation. It seems to be everyone would understand that it's an urgent service and not something to delay due to illness. Apparently this business thinks it's fine to do so. I got sick with covid at the last minute and they are unwilling to help me for an additional two weeks. Obviously we had to make other arrangements. This is supposed to be an honorable profession.

This was my first time choosing this option of handling a pet's remains (previously had the option of burying in a friend's lovely garden). But another dear friend's own choices to have their pets cremated and having them thereafter with them, in their home in a special place .... that resonated with me as the thing to do for my cat, Suki. Via internet search I came upon Rest Assured Pet Cremation in the Eugene, OR area. FYI that just as I was engaging with them, I learned that they were making a business shift to coming under the name West Coast Pet Memorial Services. My pro-activeness to get confirmation of the text on the name plate for my chosen urn, by email, brought me to be in contact with what seemed to be the new owner and uplifted my confidence in everything be handled in good order, ie correctly. My cat died at home, so it was the only option for me to being her to the facility, near the Eugene airport, myself. To me, if you can, chose to bring your pet in yourself. I think you might feel better to do so. I had her lightly sealed in a box, in a bag within it (per reading what to do with the body elsewhere online, in preparation for bringing them for cremation due to decomposition). I would also recommend marking your name and your pet's name on the outside of the box. Rest Assured's hours are imo very ample, Monday-Friday, until 6pm. One chooses to have their pet cremated communally or privately (there is a modest price difference). There is a basic urn option that would automatically come with that "purchase", however ... They have so very many urns and other items of remembrance at their business location. A very lovely range of products, including handmade artistic options. It was a little hard to chose! The young lady who attended to me went into the storage area to bring out a couple of other small carved boxes .. there was a variance .. and thus I found my perfect choice. So, another reason to bring your pet's remains in person, in order that you have that opportunity for choosing an urn fully suiting you, the memory of your pet, and your budget. There are other extras one can chose as well, from paw print imprints on paper or in ceramic mold, to a name plate for the urn, and more. It took a couple of weeks for me to get the call to pick up my urn (imagine choosing an engraved name plate ($15) probably added a week+ to the order completion), but I was not in a big rush. Preferred the job to be done well, than fast. The gift bag parcel on pick up was thoughtfully prepared and included an official card stating the day of cremation and a reproduction of the Rainbow Bridge poem on the card cover and another sweet quotation inside the card. The urn was set in tissue paper, in the gift bag, along with my charge receipt and the pawprints I'd also ordered. I recommend and would consider using them again (but hopefully it'll be at least 5 years before I need that).

The people at Rest Assured have taken care of my two beautiful boxers now. I didn't have a lot of experience directly with the staff except for one phone call and when I picked up my Rye girl this time. But they were very nice during those interactions. They had actually been trying to get a hold of me for at least a week, and when I finally contacted them, I hadn't heard from them cuz my voicemail was full. My bad. It's such a nice service to have. I really love my paw print. Rye had one weird nail on her front right paw, and this is the paw they chose for the paw print. I love it. They're still even a little bit of dirt that was on her paw pads, which I absolutely love, because she had broken her leg due to cancer and she couldn't walk for the last few days. I don't know seeing that little bit of dirt from when she could walk really maybe happy. I will always recommend them. cthey have taken amazing care of my Alice and my Rye now. I cannot imagine what an emotional and difficult job they are providing for all of us.

Our family rescues disabled animals and we are blessed to have each one. Unfortunately, their illnesses may give them only a short time with us and others a long time. We have used Rest Assured for every one that has passed to Rainbow Bridge. The care they give us and our animals is so tender and sincere, from the moment we leave our animal in their hands to when we pick them up to bring them home. Thank you for giving us peace, knowing that our loved ones are respected by you.

Questions & Answers

Those of us who choose cremation for our beloved pets wonder if we are getting our own pet ashes or a mix of multiple ashes from different animals all cremated together?

You can opt for a private cremation.

How long does it normally take to get back my cats ashes? I was told 2*-3 weeks just curious if maybe I could get them back sooner.
