Hands down, one of my favorite spots in Maine. Bread, bagels, dessert, coffee, pimento cheese - all so good! The bonus? The people. Amazing, dedicated, efficient staff that make you feel welcomed…just like family. We love you, Scratch!!

Doesn’t get better than Scratch! Everything I have ever gotten has blown me away. They have the most amazing bagels and pastries that I have found in Maine. The workers are incredibly kind and helpful and make the experience that much better. They care about their community and the community cares about them. Start your day early by going to Scratch, you won’t be disappointed.

Enjoyed some outstanding house made bagels, cookies, and coffee. Line was long but was well organized and moved quickly! Service was very friendly and well appreciated!! Only wish I had a bit more time to gaze through all the incredible eats and treats…

Very good local bakery, and while the bagels are indeed good, I would take issue with the folks throwing superlatives around like these are the best bagels of all time. I went twice on a recent visit to South Portland, the line Saturday morning at 730 am was already down the block. Coffee and other pastries were also very good. Very much a must if you are nearby.

There are several wheat-free options, including the almond horseshoe cookie, chocolate chunk chewie cookie, and usually 1 or 2 options in the dessert case (these vary by the month or so). However, Scratch does not specialize in catering to those with food sensitivities. If you have a wheat, dairy, or nut allergy, you may want to try a bakery that does focus more on food sensitivities.
They only take orders the week of any event. Try 2 Fat Cats, better at preordering.🙄
You stand back 6 feet from the window when ordering. You are outside when ordering. While paying the employee backs up so you can use the point of sale machine. Food is brought out in a bag and placed on a table for you to pick it up.
Pretty sure they will be. But I'd definitely call to make sure
Place in plastic bag. Seal. Then place them in refrigerator or freezer.
